I was half watching it with the sound off (I was on a zoom call) - why was the Villa one NOT a red? Looked worse to me!

 

Livermore's tackle was miles worse. He almost caught Grealish knee height - certainly way over the ball. Given that the referee had a clear enough sight of it to give a yellow card, it was shocking that he didn't think a red prior to using the monitor.

Hause's tackle was much lower. More on the ankle - fairly similar height to the one Lundstrum got sent off for earlier. Could have gone either way for me, between yellow and red. So once the referee decided on yellow, I was fine with VAR sticking to it. The big difference to the Lundstrum challenge (which was a red under VAR), despite the height similarity, was that Lundstrum was out on control. He flew in from a distance. Whereas Hause was very close to the WBA player.

 

Westwood is lucky he didn't walk for that. Both the foul and the thumping the ball away each deserved a separate yellow.

 

First half was decent, but this second half has been dire. Chelsea are totally off it, but West Ham aren't taking advantage.

The more Arsenal struggle the more I am disappointed that we didn’t take 3 points from them.

You wouldn't back Arsenal to necessarily hold onto this lead. But it's possibly their best 45 minutes of the PL season since the opening day.

 

They've just got to keep attacking really. And keep 11 men on the field.

 

Game’s gone. Absolute joke decision by Oliver, and he’s the best of the lot. He could quite justifiably have given artistic impression points for Tierney’s dive.

 

As soon as the defender gets the wrong side and makes any sort of contact every single referee in the world will give a penalty. He made a meal of it but there was contact so it is a penalty.
