I'm in support of Long starting. I said that I wanted Theo to remain in midfield - and Long gives us the experience to replace Ings, which the kids can't offer. I am now worried about Salisu though. The first time that I'm beginning to wonder "what have we bought...".
No Redmond Long starting could be because if we had Walcott, Armstrong and Djenepo starting we could not bring in 2 fresh wingers second half if we want them. this way we have Tella and Djenepo ready when needed No issue with Stephen’s starting, particularly with Diallo coming in in midfield
Disappointed Salisu is not starting but only because I’m impatient to see him play. That said, the decision to go with Stephens makes perfect sense. With two other major changes in the team why on earth disrupt it further. Far better to start with someone with experience.
I'm not too worried about Salisu at all. Took 6 months (if I remember) for Bednarek to finally make an appearance, and then he didnt appear in the league for another few months. He was clearly signed as one for the future, and his appearances (or lack of) so far indicate that. The only worrying thing, imo, is he hasn't played for the u23s yet.
Hmm, bit worried about missing the spine of vesty and Romeu. We're normally **** over the Xmas period though
That bench though... 6 of the 9 are academy products with limited experience I mean, it's great to see but I would worry if we fall behind at any point.
That’s got to be one of our least experienced benches ever. Probably youngest too, though Forster is ruining that one.
Don't give a **** if we play badly if we can scrape a 1-0 win or something like we did at Burnley I would be very happy.
Fraser has got half on eye on getting a run-out as an outfield player today. Just imagine if we had reverted back to five subs today... The big boys just don't get it (or they do, but pretend not to).
