I think what is actually going on there is the agency at Comm's place is a big contract. The problem with that is they are being expected to supply humper and dumpers, but the employees the agency have got, are not looking for that sort of work, they might to be parcel sorters or drivers mates, even office workers. But the agency don't want to let the contract down, so they chuck everything at it, and it's generally the wrong type of body. If it's a smaller contract, it's easier to manage, so the fault probably lays more with the agency than the employee, and that will be down to the rapport the management have with them....and the actual availability of bodies to supply for the job.

It can be a very heavy cold job. Although it's mostly the full timers that do the heavy jobs. I just think that's there's possibly jibs jobs going, and very little effort going in You can spot the ones who want a job, a mile away.

If it was me I'd be looking to use another agency, but the biggest problem is probably supplying the number of bods you need, and the sort of people that want to do manual work in a freezer, and you aint going to find many of them. So it's the usual case of take what we got or it's nothing. The latter is fine, if your own employees aint got to nursemaid them. Double edged sword. Tbph I couldn't do your job, especially the number of hours you do, I'm too old for all that stuff mate. However, if I turned up I'd put in a shift, and you'd know when I'm finished because the blue lights will be outside to give me a lift to the hosp. <laugh>

I did the bananas on tuesday (like a daft **** i opted for it). Little did i know they would only be 2 people, and it would be the busiest day of the year.

over 1800 cases cases, each weighing 17/18kg.... so take the lighter 17kg x 1800, that works out at over 30 tons.. Me and my mate did it in just over 3hrsl.... I actually went home aching. Thinking **** this....

So whats the maximum lift here per item, 17kg or more?...the max should be around 25kg.

I'm assuming you are saying 1800 cases and 17kg each individual case.

Don't forget we lift lift floor to 1.8m, and vice versa.. 18kg is about the max. so if the target is 1660 cases, you do the matths. It's a lot of weight to shift, just to feed people.

So from floor to head level :cheesy:

Just mind boggling, two employee's lumping 1800 cases for 3 hours, although it's not the amount, it's the amount combined with the weight. My brain just says why? So are they being lumped off pallets and broken down into individual store orders, to end up back on a wagon?
