Agree 100%. Havent care about an England team since the mid 90's. Detest everything about them from the arogance of our certainty to win every major tournament to the 'wonderful fans' who are fine as long as we are winning but are more likely to stab someone if we lose, through the *un newspapers build us up to be great just so they can make even more headlines when they get knocked out, through the boardroom level of money crazy cretins who care more about image then any footballing ability. FFS they made Beckham the head spokesperson for our Euro campaign. The bloke cant string two words together but is meant to be able to present a multi million pound bid. All image no substance.
God knows why Sir Bob (RIP) kept offering to go and help them out after the way he was treated.

I have absolutely no respect for the FA's international commitee that runs the England national team. A bunch of moronic blazers who know nothing about football. The way they treated both Sir Alf and Sir Bobby was just obscene. Especially Sir Alf who had to scrimp and save on a meagre pension when the FA just stood back and did nothing to help. I gave up all that England supporting nonsense years ago and I gave my England top away to charity.

Because he was English and proud of it, and he wanted the National team to do well.
Add to that mixture, he was also a true gentleman, unlike some of the bastards around today.

All player sponsorship could be stopped. To get extra sponsorship you would have to play and perform for England.
Some of the players might show that bit of hunger then.

JWM, there was a lot more English players playing abroad when we played the perceived 'English way' then nowadays when we are trying to copy every other damn country! Its not the fact that we try to only copy one country's style of play, we try to mix the spanish, italian, german, american, outer *****lian!

its no wonder we lose all the while, we are too bloody confused!

Not too bothered about England, quite interested in the competitive internationals, but never watch the friendlies. Think that the best person for the job should do it, regardless of their nationality, or whether they are male, female, or come from mars. Supernorwich 23, what are you talking about man? in naming Beckham, you are going on purely emotive reasons, he has had no experience in coaching, he might, or might not have the aptitude, thought you would of learnt that when Gunn became the Norwich boss. Made me laugh this week, listening to Stuart Pearce, talking about the vacant forest job, ' oh I haven't got the experience, its not for me. May I suggest you flopped in your last attempt in club management, you know you are in a nice, easy, cushy job now, and you don't want that pressure now.

i don't blame the players at all, they do get paid (but not a lot put to what the clubs pay them). i don't like the whole set up behind the team, the blazer brigade that agree to pay foreigners ludicrous amounts of money to manage OUR team. it must be superb to perform for your country, why should it be decided by a foreigner if you can or not? i don't blame players for retiring early from national football to be honest, its all ****e.

Corrupt or not, overpaid divas or not, I love England and Ipswich.
Many people say that some of the current players show no passion or don't play for/respect the shirt but then also say they have no interest in international football. That's basically showing the same lack of passion you criticise the players for.
Things are not great with the English set-up right now but just like when things aren't going well for Ipswich I stick with it through thick and thin. I can't change what happens at international level the same as I can't change what goes on at my club but just as my support for my club doesn't diminish, neither does it for England.
I'm proud to be english, I'm proud to support Ipswich. I live in the U.S and everyone calls me british. I always have to correct them and say I'm english. The americans only really call the english British and that pisses me off. If someone is from Scotland, Wales or Ireland then they get called scottish, welsh etc.
Personally I would like to see an englishman in charge. We could well do without the constant hype about how good we are supposed to be and get back to basics. The other home nations are proud of this and stick to their own for the most part. Can you imagine Brazil, Germany or Italy having a foreign manager, there would be an uproar.
I agree with the point that we don't have enough players abroad but most english are too arrogant to want to learn another language or culture and so stay at home.
The way of international football nowadays means we can't play the 'english' way of power and hard tackling so it's no surprise we are having to try to adjust to the more technical style of other teams. I would love to see us play the 'english' way but the refs don't allow it anymore sadly.

The reason that not many players are playing abroad is that the easy money is here.
For me with an Italian in charge its not really ENGLAND anyway so is meaningless and any trophy gained would also be meaningless.

I think alot of you on here are missing the point, its not about who is best for the job. IMO a foreigner may be better for the job than anyone else, but this is international football, not club football and every international team in the world should only be allowed to choose from players/managers who are either born in that country or parents were born in that country. I think being able to swap country's as a player, pick foreign coaches puts a taint on international football and defies the logic of international competition.

IMO I think a multicultural society is a great thing and am quite liberal in that sense but like I said before this just defies the logic of having international competition!!
