    I'd expect them to be similar to now. I dont see why France will change their rules over residency.

    As of 1st January 2021 I can't stay in France for more than 90 days a year without a VISA or Residency Permit, either of which could be refused. If I moved there by 31st December 2020, I can stay as long as I like. Similar as in completely different?

    That's not French rules over residency.
    Do you think you will be deemed unsuitable for residency or a visa?

    They don’t have to let anyone in they might restrict it to younger people with particular skills for example.

    They would have done that before if they were going to.
    Plenty of old people have got residency.

    I’m a bit concerned about digging up live ammunition from either WW, think the only safe place to do it would be in the West.

    In many countries, if you buy a property worth a certain amount then you automatically get residency. It is called a "golden visa" in Spain. Not sure about France though.
