I see Godders favourite politician has been seen not wearing a mask when they should. Idiotic thing to do when in that position.
“Not sure where the fuss is to be honest.” Transparency. Honesty. Trust. Accountability. In the past the government has frequently been quoted as saying that they were going to employ an extra 50000 nurses/doctors, but it transpired that only 31000 of those were intended to be new employees, with the other 19000 being those that they “hoped” could be persuaded to not leave, so not all new employees. If the 19343 nurses and doctors are new full time employees, then that is a great effort. If the 19343 are new full time employees and fewer than 19343 have left, it still represents an improvement, but maybe not as great as the announcement is intended to suggest. If the 19343 is made up of temporary employees, such as those that answered the call to come out of retirement to help out during the crisis, then it is good, but not a sustainable improvement, as those who came out of retirement are likely to return to it when the crisis is over. If the 19343 consists of those who were persuaded not to leave, then it is just a false statement. If the government didn’t lie on such a regular basis, and supported their statements with actual evidence, maybe people, like me, wouldn’t distrust them as much. And maybe, just maybe, if the people who voted for them started voicing their concerns, over the dishonesty, instead of ignoring it, they might actually mend their ways.

I'm for the scrutiny and criticism of the incumbent regime, their opposition and whatever institution or individual as I see fit. The current government has taken incompetance and corruption to new levels, any dissenting voice within the tory party was purged. The handling of the CV crisis is evident in the number of excess deaths. The previous years of austerity left the NHS, social services police and military understaffed and underfunded. The worst decision by the opposition was allowing the 2019 election. There's more of course that could have been done to combat Johnson's excesses. Hopefully there's a path forward with vaccines and treatments. Stay safe and sane, Merry Christmas all.
