Chalk off the bit we owe to France.

And next time they need something from us they can bugger off - unless they need someone to sink their Navy. We'll never tire of doing that.

France is protecting its self interest @lardiman , just like it has always done since de Gaulle. I applaud them for that.

The people I don’t applaud are those who mewl & puke in this country when Britain does the same.

And let's not pretend this freight ban has anything to do with Coronavirus.
We all know what it's really about.

The left wing media including the BBC hasn’t even bothered to disguise it today ...using Macron’s traffic jam pictures and “this is what a No Deal Brexit will look like”.

Macron promised us a solution to the traffic jams 24 hours ago, he must have been busy having discussions on Uganda with his bodyguard again today <whistle>

    Smoke, fire etc

In 2017 it was rumoured that he had an affair with Mathieu Gallet, the then-head of Radio France and in 2018 the allegation referred to by @The Punter’s Pal appeared.

Will we see a Philip Schofield moment?

@Miketyson2007isback is a victim of this totally selfish behaviour... I remember at the start of the last lockdown he asked a passenger to put their mask on before entering his bus..... the response.... HE WAS SPAT AT!!!!... fortunately there was a shield protecting him but the intension was there.

    Meanwhile across the pond...

The $900 billion US COVID aid bill has been passed by Congress.
President Trump was expected to sign it, but he has refused.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-55420366

Trump has asked Congress to make big amendments to the bill, so it suits his philosophy better.
As I understand it, if the bill is not signed by the end of December, millions of Americans will have benefit payments stopped.
This refusal to sign a bill approved by Congress has come as a big shock.

It strikes me that the office of the President has too much power compared to their parliament.
The President can apparently just stop a democratically ratified new law just by refusing to sign it.

If the UK Parliament voted a bill into law, as far as I'm aware Boris Johnson would have no power to stop it just by refusing to sign it.
Only the Queen would have that power in theory, but she would never use it.

For all its faults, it seems people in this country are better protected by our Parliament than US citizens are by theirs.
