Checked into Hotel we are the only guests I think and Europe's biggest mall is empty Waitrose open and a Malaysian restaurant. No mask for me
London is better when everyone is staying at home much more civilised. We should give eugenics a go when we embrace socialism. It's never worked before but this time I have a good feeling about it
Social Democracy worked pretty well in Western Europe from 1945 to some time in the 80s when unregulated free market capitalism began to reassert itself. I think we can all agree that things have gone really well for ordinary working people since then. We now have ever widening inequality, and a succession of increasingly right wing governments bending over backwards to accommodate investment bankers, hedge fund managers, and other assorted casino capitalists. Still, give the punters Netflix and SkySports, and credit cards to pay the bills, and with any luck they won't notice themselves sinking into a pit of debt and despair. And all the while that capitalism is raping the planet, and failing the many for the benefit of the few, we get to hear the same tired old trope that it's socialism which doesn't work. Well you know what? Howabout bollocks?
Dunno mate. Wasn't humpty dumpty something to do with the English civil War? Could google it I suppose. Colchester Utd had quite a decent team when Saints were in League 1. They also had a lurid blue kit, and at one time a midget blond striker who caused our defence all sorts of problems with his movement. What I chiefly remember is this blue and white flash getting in behind our lumbering CBs, and some wag behind me yelling out "He looks like a Smurf with no hat on".
The CCP will give you Communism Archie and nobody will have to worry about voting ever again. The state will make all the decisions for us . A core belief of socialism is nobody owning any property so paying that mortgage your entire life was pointless.
What about a form of socialism that suspends the gold standard, embarks on huge public-works programs like motorways, protects industry from foreign competition, expands credit, institutes jobs programs, bullies the private sector on prices and production decisions, enforces capital controls, institutes family planning, penalises smoking, brings about national healthcare and unemployment insurance, imposes education standards, and runs huge deficits? Keynsian I guess, but would it work?
Yeah Britain after the war until the 80s was amazing. Humans have been raping the planet since they left Africa. Nothing to do with the financial systems employed.
People in Uganda are still raping babies to cure Aids but yeah Whitey was a **** building roads and running water . Uganda is a Socialist democracy we should emulate them.
Britain in the 60s and 70s was ****ing brilliant mate. The Beatles and The Stones, Led Zep, T. Rex, The Clash, proper football, England winning the WC, Roger Bannister breaking the 4 minute mile, full employment, decent wages, council houses for about 30 bob a week rent, Watneys Red barrel at 20p a pint, 20 Players No 6 for 50p, and 2.5 litre Ford Cortina's parked in every drive. The 80s was when it all started to go Pete Tong, but at least there was a few decent bands and then the rave scene. It's all ****ed now mate, have a look around you.
There's Call of Duty, craft beer and one can get weed delivered to their house (allegedly), but otherwise it's pretty ****ty tbh.
