One of Johnson's phrases from his Barnsley days. (not sure if he still uses it) Position Of Maximum Opportunity.
It was championed by a dinosaur of football named Charles Hughes who promoted long ball football in the 60/70s. He was high up in the FA and has been derided for having set English football back generations with his antiquated views I pray to God 'POMO' means something different these days "Hughes defense was based on a statistical analysis in particular of the areas of the field from where goals were scored. He called these area the POMO - Positions of Maximum Opportunity and that became the focus of play. Get the ball into the POMO enough times and you are sure to score"
Can't argue with the last paragraph. There are many ways to achieve it though and I don't think Johnson likes anything about long ball football.
From the BBC - maybe they know more than us... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55403523 League One 29th December postponements Accrington Stanley v Sunderland, Peterborough United v Charlton Athletic, AFC Wimbledon v Ipswich Town Or maybe they've got it wrong - as it doesn't mention the Shrewsbury game.
Ipswich have now gone down with 6 positive tests, games postponed ... ... part of me would accept the season being voided tbh. It would give us time to sort out the squad, Johnson would have a proper pre-season and the virus would be properly under control ... ... hopefully.
I've just read an article about a possible EFL circuit breaker, reckon it'll deffo happen as the number of positives in professional football are starting to get a tad silly now.
I think it's inevitable mate, will get to a point where every club will have cases at the same time if it's left unchecked.
I can remember a certain Watford & England manager, Graham Taylor, talking about that very thing in a tv interview
If the vaccine comes from a private source I'd agree ... ... NHS etc should all be done first. My son is a manager at the Royal Mail with 200 blokes to organise. I'd much rather he got a vaccine than Jack Rodwell tbh.
I would also add police, firefighters, transport workers, retail employees, factory workers, fishermen, dog walkers and estate agents before Jack Rodwell, well maybe not estate agents.
Interesting. can see this happening to a lot of clubs as this fine is from an incident back in september. From the rumours I've heard about our poor social distancing and following protocols, it wouldn't surprise me to see we get a similar fine. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55605876 Wonder if KLD will be able to beg SD to go halves with him like SD did for the future fines we got when he took over
