Watch out for the latest craze 'clipping'.... We've had about 30 new prisoners in recently for clipping.
Basically - a crew of men (kids usually!) set a girl up to look like a prostitute (sometimes many more than 1 girl) then put them on the street pretending to look for customers. When a customer is found she leads them somewhere, then the gang beat them (sometimes brutally) and take their money and possessions. Then the girl will go out till she gets another customer, and so on and so on. The victim rarely goes to the police as they are often professional people and cannot afford to be labelled as a punter, so in a sense it's an easy crime to commit and to get away with. It's been happening for years but recently it seems to have really gone through the roof. The figures don't show the whole picture but from me speaking to prisoners on a personal level the impression I get is it's a huge huge problem in most major cities.
