Does anyone care what Mourinho makes up for his press conference? I'd rather that he just comes in apologises and leaves again. Just. Not. Good. Enough.
2-0 FT. Abject. The initial lineup didn't make any sense, the subs just made it worse and the individual performances weren't good enough. What an awful week.
That effort by Harry sums up this week 1 point from 9 , bad week , let's get Stoke out of the way and go agian
When it works we win, when it doesn't it's awful to watch. Bale looks a complete wast of money so far. Really lethargic off the ball and receiving it, it's okay when you're at Real and only expected to pop up with an explosive moment or two but we'd have been much better off with Vinicius out there, in hindsight.
We seriously need to work on something different on the training ground. We went months with Poch in charge when we were playing our “possession football” and teams had figured out how to get some sort of result against us. The same process is happening under Mourinho as we speak. Absolute garbage.
Poor from front to back and the only player who really escapes blame is Lloris, who didn’t really have anything to do apart from pick the ball out of his own net twice. Enough has and will be said about individual performances, though I think it’s obviously even more frustrating to lose to 2 goals conceded in the manner ours were. I thought we showed enough at the end of the first half and in the second that we can be dangerous if we actually put our feet on the gas and go for with the ball in possession rather than just trying to counter. I hope we see more of that. Leicester weren’t that incisive going forwards - they didn’t need to be as we seemed happy to gift them goals. But defensively and in midfield they were excellent. They’d clearly done their homework and knew how to snuff us out on the counter and it mostly worked very well. Kudos to them. The onus is on Jose to change this when teams work us out. On that note, though I think there’s still a couple of areas that need upgrading, I think what we glaringly miss is an upgrade on Sissoko, who doesn’t offer us nearly enough in possession. We needed a deep playmaker who will also put the yards in, which was what Dembele was, and while Tanguy is similar in many ways he’s not good enough off the ball to play deep. I know we’d like a CB and maybe another go for a RB, but I think that is what we miss both, because Sissoko is useless in possession and hampers us if we try and do anything apart from play on the counter.
Has to be said, Jose's squad management is worse than Pochettino's. I often criticised Poch for running Kane into the ground but you could argue that in his defence he had to try picking his best players in the Prem and CL. With Jose, he's had a perfect opportunity to rest certain players in Europa whilst afford some of our "better" squad players some strong game time, as well off the bench in the Prem and yet it's not been the case. We've seen especially with Vinicius - who's looked pretty damn good - massively underused along with a batch of others whilst the likes of Kane, Son and Hojbjerg have been brought on unnecessarily in Europa and played practically every minute of the Prem. We had three games in 7 days and there was barely any rotation and we're seeing the effects of it. I'd also love to know the logic in the Winks substitution today, too. 2-0 down, there are already two DMs/ combative midfielders on the pitch and he brings on a player who ****s himself at the thought of passing the ball forward, instead of another striker or a wing forward. Madness. Merry ****ing Christmas, people.
1. Good result, in that it kills all nonsense about title contenders and focuses the real task at hand (CL via 4th place or EL win) . 2. Again, still allowing until mid january to see if Jose is trying to get the squad thru a uniquely horrendous fixture schedule before cutting loose from this style of play. 3. If the answer to 2 is no, then only the corona chaos is protecting him from a full WHL going AVB 2013-14 on him.
Play **** and win and it’s fine but play **** and lose and this is where/why fans turn on Mourinho quicker than they would other managers.
World class players at this club., good enough players to out-classed Leicester FC on any day of the week. You might expect one of two Spurs players to have an off day here and there but to collectively to a man play like that is worrying. Something has prevented them from preforming.
He also shifts Moura onto the left, where he's just completely ineffective. I've no idea why we keep playing them together when Bergwijn is better on that side and he ends up on the right.
Leicester have got a lot of good players and most of them are back from injury, barring a couple. They had a dip during an injury crisis, which didn't get a lot of publicity.
Our out ball being easy to predict is fast becoming an issue, as we just had two straight games where we couldn't manufacture one and resorted to hoofing it in hope something would come of it The most glaring issue, and one that's easy to exploit, is that Hojbjerg drops deep to receive the ball from our CBs but Sissoko doesn't, so if the opponent's have someone between the lines putting pressure on the CBs that means they'll most likely send it to their respective FB - and at that point the trap's been set And that's where we come back to the long-standing issue of bring unable to control games in midfield, and unless someone has a teleporter we can shove Winks and Sissoko into so we can Brundlefly the CM we need we really need tweak our tactics since they falter when we go 1-0 down yet are missing something when we're 1-0 up
