My wife has health issues and was told to shield. I went to work and the daughter stayed at home with her mam, and all the media coverage and constant negativity regarding all things COVID had the wife petrified. I quietly went about my business trying all ways to keep her feeling safe while deep down knowing that it was an impossible task. I had to go to work with over 100 men daily, I had to do the shopping, I had to do everything basically whilst she stayed home. She felt safe and was happy enough. Restrictions were lifted and she went back to work and contracted the virus within 6-7 weeks. I got it and my daughter got it, I was ill for 2-3 weeks but my wife who was told that she would be in grave danger if she got it was ill for 4-5 weeks. We both recovered and thought well that’s 6 months of her life that she will never get back. Was she lucky ? Maybe. Will she get it again? Maybe. Can we hide from it for ever ? No, we have to live with it and get back to normal life. My point is that we can’t hide away for ever. For 3 months I came home from work stripped off at the door and went straight in the shower avoiding all contact to protect her, I even slept in the summer house. We observe all guidelines and do everything that is asked of us, then you see the tossers blatantly flouting everything and observing nothing and it makes you think, what was the point and what is the point of carrying on the way we are. Dickheads living near us having house parties, kids playing out freely on the estate, I could go on and on. It’s all a pointless exercise when you have idiots who take no notice

Encouraging people to gather together, during a pandemic, always sounded a really silly idea tbh.

    Cue people saying 'Corbyn' ....

Without reading through, the folk criticising the BJ for not being strong enough at Christmas whilst praising other countries etc etc, are these guys congratulating BJ for the stricter rules that he's brought in now?

It feels like they got what they were wanting so they must be pleased with this particular call from BJ :emoticon-0103-cool:

The majority of people where I am in the south were shocked that we didn't go into tier 3 after the last lockdown. It was clear that the numbers were going through the roof. The Director of Public Health in my Borough said it was ridiculous - rates were higher than anywhere else in the country and rising quickly. Funnily enough 3 or 4 weeks down the road and it's out of control.

What is worrying and equally frustrating is the number of asymptomatic cases we've seen. In my work last week we had testers in. 6 members of staff tested positive. None had symptoms. People are walking round with no idea they're infected, so of course its going to spread.

Schools are an absolute clusterfuck. Hundreds of germ magnets in small enclosed spaces. No face masks, little in the way of handwashing facilities, no regular testing; it's spreading like wildfire, but then out and into the homes. But its OK because with one day's warning before the end of term, secondary schools will be arranging all of this new mass testing and paying for it out of their already non-existent budgets.

As for primaries, they're fine, kids don't get it or spread it. Except that's not ****ing true either.

No, I've seen no one on here saying what you've suggested.

Unless you can quote someone I'd have to assume you're making something up to support your argument ...

    ... whatever it is.

BJ has it nailed on when he keeps calling him Captain Hindsight. The only proactive solution I can remember Starmer offering us was to have a firebreak which hasn't worked out well at all. Probably best for his sake he stays hidden as Cpt Hindsight, tbh.

That's okay. I don't expect you to read every post on every thread.

I could say the same with your 'Corbyn' replies, but I don't read every post on every thread.

Why is Starmer always the excuse for everything the PM does ...

... it's a Pavlovs dogs response and quite embarrassing.
