I'd suggest that Redmond owes everyone of his teammates a very large drink. For an hour, we were excellent today. No way did we deserve to be losing. Theo and (again) Vestergaard were in particular stand outs. And then Redmond came on... Rating him 1 out of 10 would be kind.
Shame, everyone loves Shane. He was a great partner with Ings last year and kept Adams out of the team. But he’s not going to improve, doesn’t offer goals. Kind of a flaw for a striker.
They played better than they have for a while and needed to. We were good and unlucky and that’s 2 pens we should have had Pep ... “They put a lot of players inside, they provoke you to be narrow. It's difficult. They don't allow you to be compact, that's why they are so good. That's why they're creating problems” "They have the best free-kick taker I have seen in my life in [James] Ward-Prowse. Their position in the table, Ralph [Hasenhuttl] is doing an excellent job. It's a good result for us" Good game. Vesty an Theo stand out performances
I'm not sure why it was never going to be given when it bounced off his leg. It's just not a penalty. It would have been before they started applying common sense to handballs.
it is not an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm: directly from the player’s own head or body (including the foot) That is the rule copied word for word.
As well as looking like an assured defender, he’s also become the string pulling creative midfielder we’ve been missing for years.
And the one where Danny nearly had his head taken off? “It didn’t put him off his header ....” what a load of bollocks. I guarantee if it had been Danny going in to the defender with his foot up there it would have been given as a foul.
If he'd made proper contact then yes it would have been a pen but as he didn't make contact with his foot it would only have been an indirect free kick for Saints and VAR can't give free kicks.
