BLM is the topic at hand. I could understand if some flagged your post as bigoted, but feel free to flag up the post(s) that you feel are racist.
This taking the knee stuff looks like something from a low budget Hollywood movie and should be discouraged. There's a time and place for everything and sports events are for watching sport, nothing else. If the attention grabbers really want publicity then perhaps a session of mooning might be the way forward.
From the Collins Dictionary: Bigot: Someone who is bigoted has strong, unreasonable prejudices or opinions and will not change them, even when they are proved to be wrong. Is this like constantly playing 4-3-3 when you haven't got the players for it?
The players are using their platform to make a point about black people not being disadvantaged in society, it's not a campaign to get more black managers in football and it's a show of unity, not a lecture. The PFA surveyed the players and 80% voted to continue, so they'll continue. Fans at Cambridge were told that if they booed they'd be ejected, they have no-one to blame but themselves.
Are there other causes or political issues we will be witnessing each week? Could the players find an alternative method such as devoting 10% of their salaries to some fund or suitable body? What if we disapprove of the principle of being subjected to any kind of gesture/lecture/statement each and every ****ing week? Ejected for booing?! Is this North Korea?!!? It's football ffs, not some totalitarian dictatorship where dissenting views are punished. Wake up man.
Soz like if this thread has drifted miles away from its original point, sometimes that's the way threads go. Not my intention to derail it in any shape or form Just gets my goat that if 'politics' is deemed too controversial or fractious on here (which it often is) , why should 'politics' before each and every match be deemed a normal or non contentious thing. It makes no sense whatsoever. Now back to the thread, A younger version of Brian Horton would be ideal, a very driven player manager with great contacts in the game and an eye for talent. Any available?
We've had some good solid players through the door, and several seem to have a lot of time for the Club and the area, so I wonder if there's an opportunity to try a team approach, where different players can share their experience and expertise in a particular area beyond coaching. It'd also increase the networking to bring in other players.
Looking at yesterday's game, one of the glaring things we miss is a backup to Honeyman. He's our most creative player, so when he's not in the team, who does the burden fall upon to open up defences? We need another in there to help out, Slater isn't an AM and neither is Batty so those two aren't the answer. We also need a different striker. McCann said we put 20 odd crosses in yesterday; that's all well and good, but you don't get points for putting the most crosses in and you need players with good awareness to be in and around the opposition penalty spot. We lost Campbell and I don't think we've ever actually replaced him, that sort of striker is what we're crying out for. He scored this afternoon being in the right place at the right time when his teammate robbed the Watford keeper of the ball. Had we done that, there wouldn't be another player in there to square it to. Magennis and Eaves are the kinds of players you bring on to change a system, they aren't the types that are going to be energetically closing defenders/goalkeepers down for 90 mins. So, in January, I'd like to see a striker in the mould of Fryatt come in (Joe Pigott at AFC Wimbledon has a pretty good record at this level) and an AM that can replace Honeyman if needed (maybe a loan from a PL club if we can).
I'd like to see Rosiie have a crack managing us at some point. Ultimately I wouldn't wish the current city job on anyone being constantly undermined by enob.
We all know from the past how Chillo mentored Big Billy and how well that worked. Imagine if the modern equivalent of Chillo could mentor big Eavesy? Positional play, heading, holding the ball up etc. Scored a shedload for the Gills he must have it in him......just needs a quiet word and some afternoon training Gotta be better than doing that silly mincing running around little cones.
Backup and competition for midfield is actively being worked on for the Jan window and what I'd class as a 6 yard box forward is being looked at as well
When we say midfield, are we talking wide areas or the middle? Because we have two players for each CM role (assuming we continue with this pig’s ear of a formation). We were linked to Danny Grant and he’s quite a dynamic winger, but he’s not going knock Wilks our KLP out the team. Glad to hear about a striker, some competition up front is badly needed.
2 of the players I know have been watched are the same mold/role as honeyman the forward is a loan youngster but I know his parent club are hoping to get him a champ move. The interesting point on the forward is that the parent club are entertaining the idea of him coming here due to way we play.
