Although Carlos Corberan rested several key men for the game at Bournemouth, it failed to pay off as the Terriers recorded a goalless draw at Coventry City in midweek. please log in to view this image Corberan may have been relatively satisfied with earning a point against one of the in-form teams given that the result was enough to keep the Sky Blues below them in the table. However, it was a fifth away fixture without success, a record which naturally puts more pressure on Huddersfield to keep taking advantage of their games on more familiar territory. Vladimir Ivic was left visibly frustrated with some of the decisions during Watford's 1-1 draw with promotion rivals Brentford earlier this week. Nevertheless, the Hornets have now recorded seven points from a possible nine, a run which has resulted in the club sitting in third position in the table. Goals remain an issue for this well-stocked squad with just one strike, at home to Rotherham United, coming from open play during their last five fixtures. Despite his most recent strikes coming from the penalty spot, Troy Deeney is building some momentum having made six starts in succession. please log in to view this image Norwich City and Swansea City are to come over the Christmas and New Year period, but it is a sign of Watford's progress that many would back them to claim at least a share of the spoils from those games. Troy Deeney is looking to score in four consecutive league appearances for the Golden Boys for the first time since December 2015.
This is my favourite away day. Nice town, great pubs, friendly and knowledgeable fans, super stadium. Always make a weekend of it last time up we stayed at Nidd Hall, time before with friends in Sheffield... another wonderful pub destination! Hopefully today will be the day that the team finally clicks, making those incisive forward passes and clearing the first defender from free kicks and corners. Not holding my breath though.
Going by the lack of faith in their strikers displayed by the Huddersfield fans we can probably expect another 0-0/0-1!
I've only ever been there once - our very first visit there in 1970, played at their old Leeds Rd stadium. I never found out if their fans were knowledgeable, but my god they were far from friendly. So bad that I dreaded to think what they would have been like had we won rather than lose as we did.
This is the kind of team selection that could actually get Ivic sacked if we lose today and then against Norwich. I really like the guy but it’s getting very difficult or impossible to back some of the decisions. Another boring waste of £10 incoming? Note - hopefully just writing this will mean Gray scores in the first 15 minutes.......(ho ho f***ing ho - in line with the festive time of year)
Gray and Sarr up front - so really we need have the ball placed with pace on the floor. But that probably won't happen. Then we will panic and bring Perica and Deeney on if in trouble.
I think it's Michelle Phillips of Mamas & Papas fame - there for the half time entertainment. Rumour has it she'll be singing 'Trip, Stumble & Fall' in honour of our midfield...
They also recorded ‘The Straight Shooter’ and ‘The In Crowd’. Neither of which have anything to do with Andre Gray.
In the only opportunity I have had to see Watford in a proper league match for 40+ years I saw them at Huddersfield 2 years ago on a lovely spring day which really set the wonderfully sited stadium off. I felt they were a club similar to Watford with their community involvement with lovely fans
