Great to wake up on the morning of a day we play City, and feel that we can win. We’ll need everyone at their best for 90 minutes for that to have a chance of happening; why not though? Stand and be counted lads, if you give it everything and we still lose there’s no shame in that. Good luck to everyone that’s going. Hope the lads do you proud.
And if he does then I remember a game when Graziano had a bad hair day. There was only one Pissing down with rain. Quiff kept collapsing. Ref gave a free kick against him when he thought it should have gone the other way. Hair still collapsing. Final straw. Got very angry. Played like a man possessed. We won ... Can’t remember the game though. I’ll ask Mrs S
Ah. I forgot what it felt like to wake up on match day and to think about the weather and what I need to do BEFORE I GET IN MY CAR AND DRIVE TO ST MARY’S
I think losing is your default prediction for every game. Just as well the team doesn't take that attitude to the game.
That is wildly innacurate. Check my posts. Playing man city is a free roll of the dice if you look at their squad ( and bench) compared to ours.
Quick mention for Ward-Prowse's hair by the way. It's quite lovely. Demands respect but also says, 'I've got your back, buddy'. A real captain's haircut. I bet he is really popular with all the other players' mum's when he goes round their houses for tea.
Going into a game v a bunch of gifted prima donnas, its perfectly reasonable for a fan to think we are going to lose It offers the benefit of less disappointment if it happens, adequate satisfaction if we draw and great joy if we win ... i.e. I recommend it as an occasional strategy, but then we're all different It's obviously not what the team should think and if any of us should bump into Prowsey before the game and he asks us what we think we should say "You're gonna smash em!"
If I remember correctly, we sat deeper than usual, against them last season, pressing more in our own half and trying to keep our shape, whilst reducing space in front of and behind the back four. I would settle for getting a result similar to the one Pompey got last night. No shots on target but a 2-0 win.
