Happened to us last season. ****ers had us playing the last match on Sunday 22nd and the 12.30pm kick off on boxing day as well
WBA, Brighton, Sheffield United etc would be massively disadvantaged with 5 subs being allowed whereas City, Liverpool, United and Chelsea etc would benefit. That's why I have sympathy for the smaller clubs.
That commentary of his for the Liverpool winner was ****ing legendary Your ex managers seem to make a habit of that. Remember David Pleat commentating when Robbie Keane stepped up to take a pen against us ‘The one thing I can tell you is that Robbie Keane never misses a penalty’
Difference is, you’ll be able to field the likes of Cavani, Van De Beek, Mata etc and we’ll have Tosun, and a load of kids. Part of me would rather we field the best side available and stick the kids out at Sheff U on Boxing Day and give them a gift.
No, the general point is valid but putting 5 subs on doesn't always work well regardless of quality. I'm sure there's some way of coming to an agreement so that the players are protected though, the general point in all this is that without a proper pre season to prepare and the way football has been recently that looking after the amount of games that players are expected to play is quite a sensible idea.
Not as funny as I found you lot v Burnley or Wolves or at WHL or Villa A mate in work is a gooner (using the term mate loosely ) and he said that since October 17th you've played 9 prem matches. Your record is W1 D2 L6 f3 a11 You have had the same number of red cards as goals scored in the 9 games All that after a really good start 9 points in your first 4 games...you were 2 points ahead of us at that point...you're now 11 behind us. Had no idea it was that bad. Obviously I offered him my sincerest sympathy...went something like
If you have enough players in your squad that you have 5 subs sat on the bench who can make a difference/step in when needed then you have enough good players to rotate and ease the game load.
Behave, it gives a huge advantage to the sides with the much stronger squads. It’d give Klopp an opportunity to rest half of his outfield players and then bring them all on if he needed to. His comments about his concern being player welfare is as transparent as ****.
