I never mock the disabled. Your comments about students were just ignorant, but why change the habit of a lifetime?
My brother lives in Belgium and he says the country is in near meltdown - almost 1600 deaths per million of population - by far the highest in Europe (Italy about 1100, Spain 1040 and us 970) He also says many Belgians are furious that vaccine made in Belgium has been sent to the UK and not used locally Needless to say it's an Xmas zoom call with him this year rather than an evening in the pub
No my comments were correct and data from Nottingham proved my point weeks after. You just didn’t want to accept it. That’s fine. As for making comments about disability, it’s a bit a new low for you but it’s the sort of response I expect. Really after all your long winded posts you are no better than others.
I saw a EuroNews item on how people in Belgium felt a while back and said just that... people couldn’t understand how we were getting a vaccine and they had to wait until 2021. My mate is in Germany and they are also having big problems. I find it all a bit strange as the infection rates are rising when most countries are on restrictions/ lockdowns or in Frances case Martial law from 8-6. Not good
Looks like Scotland will be locking down from the 28th...good friend who works high up in the Ambulance Service has been told to warn their crews, and that they should be ready for the expected rise in cases. Nothing official yet though, but they are being cagey about it... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-55358622
Yes, it’s looking bad in lots of places, and the EU has been slower than us to approve the Pfizer vaccine, as was the US. A part of the delay really did look to be due to meeting schedules, which is daft. It’s a failure for everyone, but that does not excuse specific failures in specific places, and of course here is the place we are most familiar with and where we live. As you know, at the beginning of this I was sceptical about the seriousness of the virus, but prepared to back the government and their advisors in the incredibly difficult task of tackling it. I was wrong about the seriousness, but the government has not earned my trust in any way - just when I was willing to give them a lot of leeway, facing something we have never faced before - mistakes were inevitable, but the incompetence, over promising and ineptitude, and the increasing evidence of cronyism and corruption are now piling up. Yes, there has been very poor behaviour by some in following guidance, but that is not an excuse for the other failings.
NI from 26th for six weeks, and Wales from 28th with three weekly review already confirmed.....just you guys down there waiting on a decision from Westminster!
In football pool parlance of old when my father used to play it he can surely 'perm any 3 from.....................'..whatever the number.
Here in Oz, we've been fortunate with the borders back open again but after some airline crew flew in and went out to party in town, they have infected a group which is now blowing out to all proportions, with the realization that the borders will probably close again this week. Crazy stuff. The action of just a few, have ruined it for the many.
Today is the first day on 2 months that we've been allowed to travel outside our county on non essential travel......we're heading down to a restaurant in co wexford tomorrow for lunch......all very covid compliant. Talk is that travel restrictions are likely to be re-imposed from 28th Dec and hospitality outlets closed again. CMO is concerned about the increase in close contacts causing spikes in cases caused by social gatherings, funerals and unbelievably attendance at Christmas parties..... In many ways governments can't be held responsible for people's stupidity....
News this evening saying the new strain is far more easily transmitted and numbers rising at an alarming rate. Boris may have to do another U-turn on Christmas... For those interested this will tell you when you are likely to receive a vaccination... Vaccine Queue Calculator for the UK (omnicalculator.com)
That assumes a vaccination rate of 1 million per week....... Just heard a brilliant explanation of what you can do for Christmas in tier one on our local news (Herefordshire has just been moved down)......you can form a Christmas bubble with up to 2 other families who are also forming a single Christmas bubble with you, or you can follow the rule of six, but only if all the members of the six are not in a Christmas bubble with anyone else or in other groups of six. Reminded me of this
Pretty sure I spotted Boris in the third row there, must be where he learnt how to manage in a crisis
I was very suspicious of this new strain business, seemed very convenient to me. If it isn't true then its shameful to put this sort of scare mongering about.
