No great surprise: Adkins up for Championship manager of month. Top of league but we have lost points recently. Lambert has a good chance for player of month. Bet there will be plenty of nominations this year.

My money is on McCormack to win player of the month. On the basis that they haven't even conceded a goal, let alone lost, during the month (whilst picking up the joint-most amount of points, I believe) I think Mowbray will win manager.

Would be a good thing too, as we don't want Adkins winning it what with the curse. (Poyet won it last month did he not? 3 defeats and a draw in their last 4 games!)

Good they get recognition but I must don't care. Monthly awards are daft. The only wards thatatter are given out in May ..... Unless we ate promoted by March <ok>

Not that i'm bitter or anything but I really can't understand how neither of them has won the award:

    http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/9292145.Saints_pair_overlooked_for_awards/

Obviously not loosing and keeping clean sheets is more favourably looked on than being top of the league with the most points, most wins and most goals having broken numerous club winning run records in the process and having the best start to a season in years?! Oh and Lambert being joint top goal scorer!

Who are these clowns that decide the winners??

I know these awards mean nothing and they 'curse' the winners, but this really is a complete joke! I mean what does it take to get recognition?

Oh well, we'll just have to keep plugging away on the field and f**k the lot of them as usual!

    Sorry guys - rant over!

I'm sure both Nigel and Rickie are cowering in separate corners somewhere, with pillows over their heads, screaming no, No, NO..!

At least it gave the Daily Echo an excuse to dig out a photo of Nigel, where he isn't shown grinning from ear to ear, for once.

But it was player and manager of the month awards, not season-to-date awards. Boro picked up more points in September than we did.

According to the Echo yesterday, we didn't win a single player of the month award whilst in league one. But we did have numerous players in the team of the season, in both years.

Steve Cotterill deserves "Manager of Lost Causes" for the month, again. SB3 for the "Daftest Thread" award. Not that I am biased in any way!

Why thanks Don. I think I am up for the 'Not warranting modding but we will delete the thread anyway' award as well.

It must be that fluoride they keep sticking in your drinking water in Southampton, that is giving you all a sense of humour bypass effect!<whistle>
