They were given little chance of survival when they came up, and then for about 2/3rds of the season made mugs out of the pundits. However since lockdown they’ve been dire, the loss of O’Connell was huge for them and they’ve just lost the rigidity that lead to their early success, and now their confidence and belief is completely shot. If they stayed up from this position then it’d be a ****ing miracle. The bottom line is, they’re collectively and individually not good enough to sustain themselves as a PL outfit.
Think they'll be in a decent place to come back though, can't see them losing too many players and they should do well enough in the Championship.
Can we have Egan back, we could do with a decent defender, for free of course. Actually thinking about his wages now, forget it.
I think it’ll depend on whether they choose to stick with Wilder or if they gamble on booting him with the vain hope of staying up.
If they've not sacked him by end of January then there'd be no point imo. Probably not any now really.
They look every bit a Championship team. The odds of them staying up must be humongous! Amazing how things can change in a year.
They might get that little boost of points and performances for a month but I doubt it would be enough. Especially as Fulham are picking up the odd point, West Brom now have a specialist in digging teams out the bottom 4 and Burnley have a good manager. They've got to pray Brighton get sucked in but it still doesn't matter. It's whoever is joining them in going down imo.
