Like I said, it's been a long time since I've watched it, but some of the language in it made me cringe the way the officers spoke to the West Indian prisoner - a sign of the times. I didn't catch the very start, wonder if they put up a warning prior to it being shown?

Anybody played Cards Against Humanity? My understanding is that you have to complete a phrase using the most disgusting and/or funny cards in your hand.

My daughter has just bought a set so we can play a 3 generation version at Christmas. She has judged it well, as this is a seriously sick game, and my family sits squarely in that demographic, including my Mum, but I have requested that she removes the most overtly sexual cards to avoid inter generational embarrassment, especially if she has to explain what some of them mean......(anyone want to describe teabagging to an 81 year old lady?). Less than 10% of the cards are being taken out, plenty of truly horrible stuff left.

Quite looking forward to it, we are a truly degenerate bunch.

Whole family has just sat through the Whitehouse and Mortimer Gone Fishing Christmas show, which showed off Teeside beautifully, and nobody played with their phone/tablet for the duration. As always this was both intensely funny and deeply moving, perhaps the best one yet.

Old gits will appreciate, but my 20 year old daughter loves it too. Hugely recommended.

Having spent the last six months there, I'm struggling with you putting Teeside and beautiful in the same sentence!

I was moist-eyed throughout, partly with laughter and partly through emotion. As with yours, all of my family love this show. Perfect TV.

Perhaps Tees valley and North Yorkshire coast would have been a more accurate description.......the 5 minutes in Boro were visiting Bob’s house when he was a kid.

I have to admit to playing this on a ski vacation in a chalet (my other half and I, son and girlfriend, lesbian couple and two guys skiing together - plus chalet hosts on one evening). It was definitely hilarious (especially silly with drink involved as well). It can be incredibly sick - and definitely not for the feint hearted.
    I loved it! :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0140-rofl: :emoticon-0127-lipss

Unfortunately, we're getting drip-fed one episode at a time. I'm so used to watching whole seasons over a few days that having to wait a week is torture! First world problems, eh? We've become so impatient about things these days...

Just be patient....... Record them all without watching any..... Then you can watch 'em all at once.

    Sounds easy eh? :1980_boogie_down: <doh>

So my wife's Christmas present of tickets to Alfie Boe's Les Mis show, which was scheduled for tomorrow, has been cancelled due to the Tier 3 restrictions. I was offered a refund or to re-book for a show in the New Year, but the problem is it only runs to 7th Feb with the current cast (she's an Alfie fan). I've re-booked, but can't really see London being out of Tier 3 for a good while yet.

It’s a bastard isn’t it? I’ve got tickets for a couple of things well into next year, and I’m already hoping that the vaccines are proven very effective and we have very good coverage before they happen because I really don’t want to be dancing around in a mask.

I'm still waiting to find out what's going to happen with my Who tickets from April! It's the Teenage Cancer Trust thing that they do every year at the Albert Hall, so I think the idea is they'll be valid for next April. Might have a chance by then.

I've got 15 gigs and two festivals lined up for next year. Some of the gigs have moved from March this year, to November this year, to March next year and now to November next year - it's hard to keep track. Can't wait for this **** to be over with....

Just caught the last 20 minutes of My Generation, the Michael Caine film about the cultural revolution in 60s Britain. I'll watch the whole thing on IPlayer.

This stuff makes me ache with nostalgia. It's like an actual pain.

I was just a bit too young to be a full part of the 60s revolution, but it's in my soul.

Just caught the last episode of the current series of His Dark Materials - it's been a superb adaptation of the second book, excellently scripted to mirror Pulmans original works (he's an executive producer on this I think anyway). Cinematography has been stunning too.

Series only ran to 7 episodes as they hadn't finished filming the final standalone episode due to Covid, which is a shame as it would have rounded off a few things for those who haven't read the books. Who knows when the final series will be filmed though - this will be intriguing as there are a lot of things to be tied up.

Hopefully the BBC will then do an adaptation of Pulmans "Book of Dust" trilogy -even though the last book hasn't even been released yet!
