The same way that we get better players and coaches. We look at what they're getting wrong and why. Why are they so ****? Who'd want to do it? They get no respect and are treated like criminals. Start by making the players treat them with respect, like they do in rugby. Get youngsters that don't make the cut as players and turn them into officials. That way they have a good understanding of the game, decent fitness and they know the **** that players are taught. Stop hiring so many white Northerners who claim to support teams with about 7 fans.
They tried that. Referees didn't enforce it tho. That's the level of incompetence we're dealing with. Denial is the biggest problem though. Back before VAR they proudly said over 95% of decisions were correct, which was obviously bollocks. I'm not convinced they get even 95% of VAR decisions correct and they have 2 referees and unlimited replays to get it right. Mike Riley definitely has a promising career in PR tho because the pundits rarely criticise the standard of refereeing overall.
The more you try to equalize the laws of the game and how they are enforced the more you move away from the spirit of the game and the excitement it produces. Part of the reason that it's the most popular game in the world is because it reflects a life that people can identify with. Football contains skill, and the limits of human abilities in movement, balance, decision making in split seconds, but also aggression, cheating, time wasting, subterfuge, and cynicism. All aspects of human behavior are in the game. For example in contrast, golf contains similar hand eye co-ordination but not much else (unless you are playing Donald Trump). Trying to police the collection of movements, motives, and intentions that is football is never going to be perfect. Using technology for line judgements is simple enough and is an advance but using it to judge fouls is another matter altogether that has solved nothing and produces just as much controversy as we had before VAR existed. I think the bigger problem is the constant tinkering with the rules and the constant changes of emphasis expected of referees. In other words don't blame the refs, blame the authorities who keep moving the goal posts. We have had changes to the hand ball rules DURING the season which is both crazy and unfair. We don't need a new set of refs, although it is strange that the vast majority of PL refs hale from the North of England, what we need is consistency of rules and stability in interpretation. That is the responsibility of the governing bodies not the refs.
Wow! I thought something had happened but I didn't realise it was that blatant. As people have said, no pundits have wasted any time discussing it (it would only be a problem if it had happened to certain teams, which I don't think it would). The question is whether if a Liverpool defender had been flattened off the ball and the Spurs player he was marking went on to score, would VAR be interested then? Sadly I think it might.
True.At one time we were the cup kings.....then we went to sleep and didn't wake up for a long while!!!!
Mane tried the blast it against the arms again twice last night, worked in the CL not last night though , good player but full of nasty tricks
Just catching up, was thinking the same just now, wasn't me bro I did like the Kane flat track bully one tho, I nearly bit on that
Cover your eyes, everyone, because I'm about to post the pass map You have been warned please log in to view this image Well that's just abject, isn't it? The most damning this is here is a list of combinations that don't have a line between them in either direction * Toby Alderweireld & Eric Dier * Pierre Emil Hojbjerg & Giovani Lo Celso * Eric Dier & Ben Davies * Steven Bergwijn & Son Heung-min * Steven Bergwijn & Harry Kane The worst thing is the two patterns we're most accustomed to at this point is the thick line between Toby & Dier and the CB/LB/Hojbjerg triangle, and neither of those are on there, and it has to be said the formation likely plays a big role in that because our usual system allows Hojbjerg the fluidity to drop back to receive the ball from from CB and move it on to LB (or vice versa) but playing a 442 doesn't do that as we had two lines instead of the usual three Reguilon being more successful carrying the ball forward in less than fifteen minutes on the pitch than most players managed in ninety is also an obvious problem, as is the no man's land in midfield created by Lo Celso pushing up while Sissoko was on the right flank
Disgusted to read that Steve Bergwjin had to close his Instagram account lastnight due to the abuse sent to him , unfortunately part and parcel of everyday social media , he must have felt bad enough with the loss and misses without being trolled by that bunch of cowardly ****ers
I thought we were in for a hiding before the game yday, wasn't looking forward to it at all, but thankfully Jose does what he always does when he brings a team to Anfield... Sit tight and play on the break. Goes all the way back to his chav days. He deffo missed an opportunity last night as I believe had he been brave enough to target our defence you'd have seen a different result. Would've taken a draw before the game so I am extatic about the 3pts. Although moureen may bring some success to you it's gonna be a hard slog of a watch if he sticks so rigidly to that sit and break style. Thought the ref was terrible tbh Mane was fouled all night and got nothing. And I'm not convinced son was onside for your goal. We were fortunate for Salahs goal but I felt it was coming one way or another regardless. Pleased with our performance and that we kept going til the end and took our rewards. Not the best I've seen us this season, wolves was probably our stand out performance so far but last night I saw that cold determined relentless attitude that got us to the title last year, and I was happy for that as its the 1st time I've felt that from watching the team this season. Im hoping this results gives the lads the confidence that we can cope without vvd in the long term, like I said we've somewhat looked nervous in games after his injury and last night we looked like a team who'd finally put that to bed. Without our injuries we'd be pulling away from the rest by now, that's just facts. Sucky out.
Your lads will be outraged at this, or should be.....Like when our boy Williams had to close his cos of 13yr old kids sending abuse on twatter. I remember the outrage in here about it. Wonder if the same energy is applied when it's one of your own
Abuse is abuse no matter who is doing it. You have to be a special kind of twat to act like that imho. If they go to the lane I hope they are ided and banned so proper fans can go.
Mate those twatter kids are everywhere. I said that when you lot was being all high and mighty about Neco getting **** and closing his down. And tahdaah, told ya Wonder how @vimhawk @humanbeingincroydon feel now, if I remember rightly they were all over the Neco situation, all "you'll never walk alone" and that **** Shame
The first half we saw the worst of Maureen. It was Ugly. Not so bad in the second half but one has to put away ones chances.
Goes both ways, if we took ours we'd have won 7-4 or summin. I was chuffed when I saw the way he'd set you up, stuck in your own half most the game. If he'd have gone for us I think you'd have got a result tbh.
