According to Transfermarket we pad £7.3m for Widshutt that has to be up there with Naismith levels of poor business.

Wildshut included a lot of add ons that were never realised, so the actual fee paid was around £4.5m, so not so bad.

It pained me when Everton got over a million when we got promoted because of Naismith.

Good chance one of Max or Emi might be off in Jan. I think they're our most marketable assets and would plus Cantwell perhaps. No drama if we get solid offers for them I suppose. This is the Norwich way after all. Shows how important our scouting and academy set ups are for the club.

Considering the reward of promotion if we don't have to sell I don't think we will, not for all the tea in China

William Salida story has appeared again. I cannot see it happening. Arsenal would want guaranteed playing time for him, which I am certain we could/would not give. Plus, in one and a half years at Arsenal it appears he has made just two appearances for them. Hardly ready to step into a team battling for promotion.

Saliba was pretty highly rated on loan in France last year, I think there's definitely a player there. But I agree that Arsenal would probably want guarantees of playing time which it wouldn't be appropriate for us to give.

Saliba was always considered to be the most talented young player in France when he left for Arsenal but even at his young age there were always stories and rumours about his attitude and personal life which, I understand, have continued in London. Arsenal have too much invested in him to want him sitting on the bench at a Championship Club and a loan move back to St Etienne is more likely in Jan although, again if media reports can be believed, whilst the Owner and Manager want him the other players don't.

Can’t see Aarons staying in January if a bid of circa £25m comes in. What a star in every sense. His attitude is spot on compared to say, Cantwell. So I think we will see bids for Aarons, Cantwell (despite his histrionics) and Buendia. On another tact who would be in a PL side if we got promoted again? My list:
Krul, Aarons, (if he is still with us) Godfrey, Dowell, Skipp, Cantwell (as for Aarons) Buendia (as for Aarons) and Pukki. Long way to go and my speculation will, no doubt, be open to constant changes.

I feel a bit like £25m might be a low now. We are looking on track for promotion, so it’s not flogging the family jewels like after relegation. He’s gone from strength to strength since a well-publicised approach by Barcelona, which has seen his temperament come in for a lot of praise. He’s playing better than ever, yet has room to learn.

    Am I being unrealistic?

Everton might have something to say about us fielding Godfrey in the PL <laugh>

Doubt we'd keep hold of Skipp too but I agree he'd be one to step up.

Sorry I didn’t make it clear that I meant who would get into a NCFC PL side if we got promotion again this season.

If we are still top 2 in January then it would be mental to sell Buendia and Max.

They both desperately want to play on the Premier League we could end up being promoted and they will be sitting on the bench at Man U or Arsenal.

I think it will be less about us wanting to sell them and more about being offered a sum that we'd be crazy to turn down. We've been sensible with the money in the last couple of seasons but COVID has dealt us a financial blow and I'm sure one of those two (or Cantwell) is the solution.

As nice as it is to have 2000 fans in the stadium now, I wouldn't be surprised if the club is out of pocket further having to staff and police the stadium again for so few fans.
