Sorry mate, I wasn't too clear.

What I mean is that, no matter how badly the PM does, people think that saying the word 'Corbyn' excuses it all.

    Okey dokey.

Regarding Boris and Covid, cant help feeling that there are in fact intelligent people making intelligent decisions but by the time they go through Boris's brain and out of his mouth it makes him and his colleagues look like idiots.

I never said we were doing well?

I replied to the comments saying we were the worst in Europe, we aren't. We are doing better than Italy. Germany has been on the news recently because they're having trouble controlling their outbreak, at the moment.

If you are talking about the UK as a whole then I assume you're holding all 4 nations leaders responsible...

If Cheltenham should have been cancelled than surely Christmas needs to be cancelled, too. Cheltenham would have undoubtedly lead to the spread of infection and rise in deaths. Christmas will do exactly the same. Or is it just have a pop at the government for cancelling the things that you personally don't want cancelled?

I think you're missing the original point, or I've not explained myself too well.

It's that Christmas is a religious festival which you can observe no matter where you are or who you're with ...

... Terry Waite celebrated Christmas in a shyte hole chained to a radiator.

If you're not religious it's no doubt lovely but just a get together with friends and family with loads of food and drink.

I like a little from Column A and a little from Column B meself.

we are in another total lockdown in Germany until 11th January deaths have shot up, you are only allowed out to food shop not wearing a mask going to the food store is a fine up to 2,000 euros, this is the 3rd lockdown, lock downs are done at the behest of the medical surgeon generals advice, and like England the Government must enact laws to their advice, I see in the English news huge Indian wedding's breaking the rules, rallies by BLM, Extinction, exotic car rallies music festivals there is a massive list to many to mention of people with their own gripes. All a breeding ground for spreading covid, We have people on this board who will vilify this government at any chance as they are so far left thinking they are more communist. Nothing Boris does will pacify them, This thread was made in the knowledge that it will cause controversy between opposing views, knowing for a fact what will happen and has achieved exactly that, and try as i may to stay away from this thread, there are certain posters who vilify Boris at any chance and i for one am sick to death of the main culprit who keeps turning the threads and spouting **** without a thought to how others will react, yet goes running to the mods when it goes down to a personal level, As far as Christmas is concerned, people will do what they think best, they know the safety procedure's and break them at their own peril , all Boris has done is issue guidance on advice given to him by health experts, so that law breakers who catch it by not adhering to the safety rules cannot come back to the government wanting compensation which will happen .

You're making me out to be some kind of extremist which I'm not.

I'm entitled to look at the government and point out their failings, that's democracy.

The point of the OP, which you've missed entirely, is that no one, Johnson included, can cancel Christmas ....

... it's like him saying he's going to cancel Easter.

Christmas is a religious festival over which he has no control ....

... he can cancel people getting drunk in pubs, using Christmas as an excuse.

    It's two entirely different things.

    Cheers mate.

It just annoyed me that the government is using Christmas as a political football.

I don't expect people to agree with me but that's not the reason I post.

Whatever Johnson, or any other politician in any other country says regarding the pandemic is almost always wrong. Whatever they don't say is right.

No doubt mistakes have been made here , as they have been everywhere, but some of the juvenile and hysterical reporting has been beyond anything seen in my lifetime, particularly the BBC who are still fighting the referendum of 2016 and last years election.

Anyone caring to look back will see the government being excoriated for not joining the EU's vaccine procurement programme, and for following the roll out method of validation. And for not joining the EU s PPE procurement scheme which has been a disaster.

The EU are scrambling around now trying to buy a further 100m doses of the Pfizer jab between 25 countries, 350 in total, having earlier declined the offer of 500m, and have still not been able to pass it anyway.

I doubt the Guardian or the BBC will want to tot the lives up that farce has cost.

It's not all Johnson's fault at all. He just wears the wrong rosette. Nor, actually is he a buffoon, it's just the people are being told that every day in the hope they will believe it.

No saints here. No real sinners either. It is a nasty virus and state of affairs no PM has ever had to deal with in peacetime.

The death toll in connection with Covid-19 is increasing rapidly in Germany. In Hesse, the city of Hanau now has to use a refrigerated container to accommodate two deceased. There is no longer any room for it in the hospitals In view of the increasing number of deaths in connection with the corona virus, a refrigerated container in Hanau has to be used for the first time. The container in the main cemetery is used for two people who have died with or from the consequences of Covid-19. The cooling capacities in both Hanau hospitals are exhausted, said Lord Mayor Claus Kaminsky.
