Aye, cos back then we were allowed to sink boats and shoot down planes at the first sign of danger. I dont think our neighbours would take too kindly if we took up them sort of measures today. 'Radar station picking up a passenger plane from Paris over South East Kent, rumours one of the passengers has a tickly cough. Launch a missile!' <laugh>

Tits up was probably the wrong thing to say, when you look at the links it just stinks of a big fat brown envelope and another contract given away without going to tender

If you are gonna compare the current situation to WW2 Covid can be compared to German spies. Although we executed many of them who got here I'm pretty sure that we never caught them all.

On the subject of children unicef are going to feed our hungry children for the first time in history this winter, an outbreak of covid at eton, miraculously just before London entered tier 3 and all pupils work remotely, presumably whilst travelling to tier 1 holiday homes for Xmas. Our kids crack on! We have more billionaires in this country than ever before and unicef are going to feed the children of England what next adverts asking for £2 pm

Blame the Labour party members for picking Corbyn, blame the Labour party for having no natural leader, blame the country for voting the Tories in, blame Brexit. But you cant blame the rich for looking after the rich and the comfortably well off. If things get even worse, which they probably will, and the comfortably well off start getting hit in the pocket, and Labour get a decent leader (not sure about Starmer) they should walk the next election. Traditionally I'm a Labour voter. I abstained from voting last time out. Didnt like Corbyn. I knew loads of voters who voted Tory rather than for Corbyn. Alot of those were from NW Durham where Labour lost their seat to the Tories (unheard of!). If Labour dont win the next election they only have themselves to blame. However, the way I see it, the country and the whole world is in a mess at the minute, and its gonna take a long time to recover, and I'm pretty sure that the next election will be one of those which the main parties wouldnt be too upset if they lose. Let somebody else clean up the mess.

That's exactly why the government need to be seen to be 'giving us something' . . . . because christmas would have happened anyway, no matter what restrictions were in place.

The most important message is for us to be careful whilst enjoying it as much as possible :emoticon-0148-yes:

Precisely, no need for them to come at all.

Nor was there any need for Cheltenham festival or people going on cheap flights to Malaga.

Not sure how long Corbyn can be used to excuse everything Johnson does tbh.

My original point was that Johnson can neither award or deny people Christmas ...

... he's tried playing Churchill, now he's trying to play God <laugh>

It does my head in claiming he's doing a better job than X or Y would to try and defend the indefensible. He's doing the absolute worst job possible as it is. He's ****ing everything up and doesn't have a clue how to lead. Heseltine hit the nail on the head about him months ago when he said he doesn't lead, he waits to see where the pack is obviously moving then runs to the front barging past everyone and shouts follow me when he gets there.
On the point of Christmas they should let people make their own choice as they will anyway. Tell everyone you can visit your parents and have a get together but be very wary as people will die as a result of mixing more than they have been and it could be your parent that does.
Just being ****ing honest for a change would be nice

It's the lack of honesty that's a little disappointing.

The PM sets the tone and he got it tragically wrong at the beginning. Refusing to wear a mask, shaking hands and not distancing was idiotic. Fist pumping his way through a speech about getting out and all fighting the virus together was worse.

Now he seems to have lost any idea of what to say, this latest slogan is ludicrous ...

... "Spend Christmas with your family but keep it a bit shorter than normal and the virus might not have enough time to spread."

Obviously following the science again <doh>

I make a point of never getting involved with arguments about politics or religion because people, quite rightly have their views and whatever I say isn't going to change them. But you are spot on with the point you make in bold.

I always have a little chuckle to myself when Corbyn/Abbott/Blair et al are used as excuses not to vote Labour and yet the irreparable damage Thatcher did to the working class of this country or the share shorting and disaster capitalism our leaders and their cronies are currently practising is never mention.

Not blaming Corbyn for what Boris is doing. Not even blaming Corbyn for being Corbyn. The party members got exactly what they wanted and he did exactly as expected. Picking Corbyn however had left a massive open goal to enable the Tory party to do exactly what they want. If a, dare I say it, Pre Iraq War Tony Blair type figure was up for PM, a proper statesman, they may have walked the last election and stopped a proper oaf from walking into No.10. On the other hand, if a David Cameron type figure was still Tory leader, someone who looked to have a bit more leadership quality, the Tories would have won by a bigger margin. Given a choice between Boris or Corbyn, alot of Labour voters turned to Boris. Now that says something. Its just been that perfect storm of Brexit & Corbyn has allowed an utter nincompoop to rule our country. I dont despise the man, but, they say he's supposedly intelligent, I wish he would bloody show it.

I can imagine Boris, if he took an exam, his written piece would get an A but his presentation would be a shambles.
