I think that's what throws me, if i try to think of 25 players for you over 21 then i struggle, admittedly your squad is not my main subject of expertise
Liverpool were without Virgil van Dijk and James Milner (at the heart of their defence) and Diogo Jota (from the midfield). Spurs could've had a better result, had we attacked the areas left by these marquee players and game winners. I'm a bit bemused as to why Jose didn't take the advantage of their absent players and go for the jugular. Had we lost under those different circumstance, I would have said :- 'well played Liverpool, we'll see you at The Lane'. Instead I bet everyone at Spurs including the players are feel 'hard done by', furthermore I would imagine one or two players might be feeling that they were set-up to fail this evening. However, I still believe Jose will make us proud this season., loads of games to be played...
Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Dancing Brave, Guy Harwood and the late Pat Eddery. One of the finest winner combinations I have seen.
League Cup would be great for the time being., in fact The Mickey Mouses Tin Plate Cup would do nicely for me right now.
I suspect you know what virtually every other supporter knows, trophies are important, it's why we play/love the game
Firstly, I should apologise for my posts last night. Now to the match after a nights sleep and some time for proper reflection. Liverpool are an exceptionally good team, maybe one of our visitors could enlighten us to if they have actually played better than that so far this season, because certainly for opening quarter of the match they were almost unplayable, though we coped relatively well with having almost no possession and whilst Hugo made some saves it was hardly the Alamo and when the goal arrived it was a massive fluke as another shot that was going straight at our keeper took a wicked double deflection and dropped just inside the post. The goal actually appeared to affect them more than us, and for the rest of the game their press was less efficient and suddenly completely against the run of the play we scored, I am sure that we were all convinced that VAR would call it offside, but Sonny was level and the goal stood. 2nd half was more even, and if we had taken our chances we might have won the game but more importantly probably would not have lost. As for the individual players I can’t fault any of the starting 11, Aurier was exceptional, and if Bergwijn had taken one of the 2 gilt edge chances that we created for him, then he too could have had this accolade, because his all round game was excellent, but these games are decided by small margins and we had to be clinical to win the match. Before the game I asked that the match be won by something exceptional and the header that won the match certainly was.
And their goal was so offside my telly fell over. We were all over them in the first half and if any team should be taking chances it's us, and how many times did Mane need to be fouled before anything was done? The refereeing was a disgrace. Spuds were getting all the decisions
Funny enough I thought the ref had an excellent game, Mane is a nasty fouling thug, last night Aurier just gave as good as he got and the ref didn't buy any of Manes attempts to con him which makes a nice change. As for the offside, maybe you need to learn the laws of the game 'Level' is ONSIDE
Despite a frustrating display last night, where we had our chances (and could have set ourselves up better to take advantage of Liverpool’s defence) it’s not all doom and gloom, by any means. It goes to show how far we’ve come because Twitter has been more of a **** show than it normally is. - lots of fans berating Bergwijn. Let’s not forget we beat United 6-1 away, beat City and Arsenal 2-0, and drew away at Chelsea. We’d only lost 1 match (on the opening day of the season) until last night. That’s arguably the hardest game of the season out of the way, and regardless of our frailties, Liverpool did play better than us. We’ve had some excellent results in this horrific period of fixtures, which I’m sure we’d have all taken at the start. On to the next
0 out of 10 wind up. Level with the last man is not offside. The VAR official will probably get relegated to league 2 for not giving it. Robertson getting away with fouls that should have resulted in cards (again) so yes the referee was poor.
It’s 3 points can smell the relief in the Mousers They dogshit away from home...that’s where they will be throwing it away over the season. Expect to beat them at home end of next month
If Bergwijn does his basics right then we aren’t having this conversation as I don’t see too much difference between last nights personell and set up and the one that got us wins against City and Arsenal Their winner...seen our defenders crumble as men many times this season with dead balls...no magic formation will eradicate that momentary lapse by a player...only that player but they can’t do it
I'd probably put the performance against Wolves as a "better" performance ,though this was more satisfying , mainly because that game we had our shooting boots on unlike last night when so many were almost like back passes to Lloris . Amazed after your start to the second half you retreated back into your shell as we were looking quite wobbly under the pressure .
@Dier Hard @Spurf @SpursDisciple err probably should apologise to you 3 as my post last night was a pisstake as Dancingbraveforever is a Blue and my post obviously seemed funny to me at the time . As you may have guessed drink had been taken in fact the only reason i know i posted it was due to your notifications
I saw quite a few differences. I saw a lopsided formation and a first half where we actually done nothing bar score a freak goal out of the blue. We didn’t counter, we weren’t defending well and we weren’t even attacking. Against City, Utd and Arsenal we were well structured and our counter attacks were dangerous as hell. Weren’t the case last night. I don’t even know what the game plan or goal was. Tactically it was a mess. Pool weren’t even that good either, which makes it more frustrating at just how bad we approached it. We also played a weaker XI than we did against Palace. Just don’t get it.
