Wilson good Fraser - ****e Lewis - pure ****e Hendrick - ****e Anyone want to argue with that? I guess people will say Frasers good, but he's just fast and othe than that offers nothing
Wilson - Class Fraser - Good but too early to really judge Hendrick - Hopeless Lewis - I think he'd be good in a better team
, Not seeing it personally and never have.... I think we have a crap coach and a sqaud assembled from the bargain aisle... Players aren't bought to fit into a system.. Its just a random oh he's the best value in that position, so it's just a big mess
Wilson is obviously mint. I actually think the others are all potentially fine but your point here is exactly the problem. There has been no cohesive planning in our recruitment whatsoever for years. It is exactly as you describe.
I like Fraser, I think he's had a tough start to his time here, but he certainly has natural ability and has shown glimpses of what he's capable of. Wilson is fantastic and most on here were not happy with it at all, I believe you included Chaos. Lewis is young, we need to give these players time. He doesn't make mistakes that have cost us games, he's doing a job and we can't just drop young players instantly. Other teams don't. Hendrick is in a slump in his career, he need's a better manager I think. Bruce is to blame, he can't coach.
Other than Wilson, they have all become worse players under Bruce. Just like all the players we had before he arrived, it would suggest it's the coach's fault and not the players ability for their decline.
I think me and you where the only ones saying exactly this when we where pre season and we had spent 35m. I’ve said from day one we signed 3 players from relegated clubs and a player released from Burnley. Oh and a goalkeeper from Motherwell. And some where saying it was a good transfer window. Wilson is a good player. We needed CM. We have a terrible slow midfield.
I said I wasn't convinced Wilson was very good and he's proven he's premier league quality so far. The others have shown to be be poor It concerns me that he's filling the squsd with ****e and chasing our onyone with any real ability. We're signing the sort of crap Sunderland used to sign.
Fraser and Wilson are good but right now the rest are ****. I don't doubt that the other players would be playing a lot better under a proper manager. One who can nurture talent. It's no coincidence that under Rafa the Longstaffs shone... but under Bruce they look hopeless. Same with Lascelles and Schar.... class under Rafa and valued at £20m+..... piss poor under Bruce. He's like a human brillo pad who scrubs all the polish and shine from people.
Almiron > Fraser Manquillo > Murphy Max > Joelinton Willems > Lewis Bruce picks the worst players he possibly can.. It's actually incredible
Its a bit disingenuous this as much as I think he's a **** manager. Managers have only a minor part in transfer proceedings these days. They pick from whatever a scouting team produces based on the budget the owner allows. Certainly here that is very much the case as Pardew, Rafa etc all revealed much to their annoyance. Not in terms of the scouts but the budgets. Its better of being headed 'Newcastle signings' but personally I'd call them 'Ashley shoe string signings'. The overall picture is one of under investment. So you might spend 20m on Wilson and get what you've paid for but he'll also push them down the free transfer routes with his budgets. So you get the likes Hendrick, Fraser, Gamez, Kuqi, Abeid, Colback etc. You'll win some, but you'll likely lose more. I think the annoyance is many of the scouting teams signings which have cost a bit at the time haven't really come off. Thauvin, J Murphy, Joelinton, Lewis. Yeah the likes of Wilson, Max, Almiron counterbalance, but I reckon they have about a 50% strike rate. On tight budgets thats not great. I don't know what Liverpool and our scouting team have seen in Lewis. He's been gash so far. But there must be a reason and he's young. I like Fraser, handy squad player and way way too early to judge, he's hardly been fit or played. History tells us he'll be useful once up and running, Wilson will want him fully flying ASAP. Hendrick is just a squad player, he's ok at our level but hardly a solution to our chronic central midfield problem. Wilson has been better than good, he has been excellent. Great return but then most expected what we've got.
We were all told Bruce was given full say on transfers and he'd signed good players.. I said at the time we'd strengthened upfront but lost willems for a crap left back, so we're no further fwd. I feel vindicated right now
Same as Rafa was given full say. And Pardew. The only committee was McClaren. They keep saying it, but then managers keep leaving and revealing something different on their departure. Its misdirected for me, anything to do with transfers is down to money. One man is controlling the direction. We keep hammering manager after manager for this but they aren't the common denominator. Its daft of the fans really to be so easily duped into scapegoating bosses year on year. I wanted Willems but he was a massive risk - that injury was serious and he still ain't kicked a ball this season. We had to pay 12m to make it permanent and even they admitted that wasn't realistic after an injury like that for a player in the last year of his contract. I'm sure we will be interested when he becomes free this season of course . If he'd been signed as well as another (Lewis in this case), then I think that was the right thing to do. But its not our way is it? We've had one left back for about 8 years now.
N No pardew had no say only rafa did and Bruce.. Bruce's signed Wilson Fraser Lewis Carroll and Hendrick... He looks for absolute ****e and always has... Wilson is a good signing, but our side looks like a Sunderland squad and on one more window it'll get even worse
Fraser has never been any good, but everyone's just decided he is based on seeing him run fast for a few years.. He can't play football.. Ritchie is better player still
We'll have to agree to disagree, the signings are down mainly to the scouts and budgets, the managers are just picking from options. Hence Rafa and Bruce's signings look gash. If Ashley stays and the next manager has the same situation, it will be how many years of under investment? At what point do the fans stop chastising managers about transfers? Its ok hammering him about match days and lack of direction football wise, but everything else is down to the owner.
The scouts wanted all the players he freezes out... He's after total control and the power to just say look all your suggestions have failed so I want him.. He's being a ****.
