This was discussed on Radio 5 several seasons / appointments ago. The reason seems to be largely due to the forcefulness of Hughes' agent albeit I think that any agent would have to work. From recollection, Alan Green was part of this discussion and he was scathing about Hughes' ability as a coach - I have a feeling that this must have been around the time that he had just left QPR.
