it would seem that now the club have had time to seek advice that 'nothing untoward' has taken place otherwise the EFL could (and most likely would) hit us with sanctions.

this would make even more of a mockery that a club, with confirmed covid cases, following guidelines with players going into self isolation, were given no help or felt they were left with no other choice but to play the game putting more players and those from wimbledon into a possible dangerous position where the only really safe option was to allow the game to be called off with no threat of sanctions.

obviously there is the fact that some may feel the need to cheat and get an extra day off with 8 games a month, but there is also the fact that they will have to fit those missed games in at some point adding games to what would have been a quiet month (ie: no win situation) in an already shortened season.

We could be fighting relegation by the time we play again. <laugh>

This whole threat of sanctions to me seems odd. It feels like we are applying pre covid processes in a covid world. By that I mean not fulfilling a fixture historically in football carried penalties unless agreed in advance, and this was across all levels of the game. I am struggling to imagine a scenario where a positive case and resulting self-isolation could not be deemed a valid reason. Even if someone had breached rules and guidelines and that was identified could it ever be certain that was the cause of the outbreak?

I realise this is entirely different but I am involved in grassroots. This season we have postponed more than half the scheduled games so far due to covid reasons. The league this season just accept that is acceptable and rescedule. I had an opposition team not fulfil due to player registration issues and there was an investigation and I got a 3-0 win (even though I wrote a letter in support of them asking we be allowed to play). I suppose the point I am making is the investigations and sanctions are not being used when covid is involved, but we still do it for traditional reasons. I just wonder whether we need to remove the threat of sanctions and make decisions without that sort of pressure.

He’s not the only mod vince :)

sadly I’m in the hospital at the moment as my son might have broken his foot!!! Certainly can’t do it on my phone but will have a look tomorrow if I get chance.
I’m not (for what it’s worth) moving individual posts from other threads. Not even sure that can be done. And if the other threads aren’t solely about COVID then they shouldn’t be merged

edit... or, in short, what Gordon said!!!

Seemingly the EFL, today, advised that SAFC wouldn’t have faced any punishment. Shows the EFL for the arseholes they are if they can somehow make that decision 24 hours after they couldn’t make it!! Bunch of ****ing amateurs.

On RTG just seen a post saying the outbreak is from the bus driver coming back from the Lincoln game.

Whilst that could be true, I’ve seen and heard a few conspiracy theories rolling around saying it was bus driver, players not adhering and even players partners having affairs!! No idea what to believe but it could be anything with this virus!

Yep 100 percent. You can take all the precautions possible, always an element of potluck though, especially in wintertime. More people coughing and spluttering, more people out at the shops for Christmas etc. Transmission from droplets is probably at it's peak around now. I've been wiping everything down that comes in from outside since the weather started getting colder. Just wish I could chop the wifes legs off, she is fcuking useless at decontamination drills.

<laugh> I remember that - with Carla off Corry!!! (No I don't watch Corry before anyone starts! Wife does though - and she was sexy as hell as Linda in Dream Team!!)

What got me about it was the fact that there was never a swear word!! In a professional, premier league football team no one ever swore!!! So realistic

It has happened in Scotland. Kilmarnock and I think St Mirren both postponed games and following investigation had been found to have breached protocols and the three points were given to opponents. Think the players may have been sharing lifts for example. Its mad, mad times.
