We are 11/5 with Arsenal at 6/5. And 5-1 against City. Under the Koeman era it was great value to back Saints as you would get these kind of odds and we would often do it. I think there is some value to be had
He always gets it wrong. So will it be a squeaky bum time to us or more than two nil to us. 5-0 nil to us feels good
To be fair Lawro said it was fabulous to see us in the top four. Although he probably meant that he was amazed not to see us in the relegation zone
His praise is a little too glowing, which has now got me worried, when l read player for player we are better, l thought OMG!!! But going to remain positive. Theo to get a brace today. Afterall, he owes us payback for all the times he scored against us in an Arsenal shirt!
I think we’ll lose ... But only because it will make me feel extra bloomin happy if we win Aubameyang hat trick and Vesty red card I can feel the gloom building
There speaks a true Saints fan! 'We should win, and therefore won't' is a lifetime mantra for us all. Today does feel different and not just because Arsenal are struggling. The Newcastle and Brighton games were both games the 'old' Saints would have lost. Come to that, a scrappy 1-1 draw with Sheff Utd would have been the likely outcome. But all this new found confidence brings its own problems. In the past we'd have been the team looking at the bottom 4/5 and cursing that WBA had just gained a good point, and this would have been a free hit. Fans would have nodded in agreement when we heard that the manager was resting a few players ready for a relegation battle over Christmas. But now? We expect to win this but rotation needs to be considered. Does Adams need a rest? Is Ings really going to cope with the fixture list coming up? Walker-Peters seems as fit as a flea, but what about Bertrand? Does Ralph risk playing Romeu and have him miss the City game if he is carded tonight? So while I am looking forward to settling down with Amazon tonight to watch the team stuff Arsenal I will be hoping for a card-free and injury-free game and if it ends 1-1 I'll not be saying 'Meh! Points lost'. OK, that was my head. My heart says .. bollocks, let's smash 'em!
A few years ago I was in Salisbury stood in a queue to pay with a big guy in front of me with a top on the back of which was written the Gunners. I asked him what he thought of Wenger leaving when he said "I don't follow football I am in the Artillery".
For me, the talk of resting players ahead of and making sure Romeu isn't suspended for City is strange. I know we have a feeling that we can get points off anyone at the moment but realistically our best chance of 3 points is against Arsenal not City - If I had to rest anyone or have Romeu suspended it would 100% be for the city game rather than tonight.
Irrespective of Arsenal’s current form, I will be extremely surprised if they aren’t up for this one. Not sure that I want to see Vesty striding upfield leaving us light at the back for the counter, unless we are well ahead and the game is almost over. Hopefully the ref will not be too trigger happy and card JWP or Romeu for first challenges, putting them on edge for the majority of the game. Be interesting to see what level of press we use. I didn’t think we pressed as high, against Wolves, because of their rapid counter attack capability, so wondering if tonight might be similar. However we set up, it’s time to do something about our record at their place and record a win.
