Once the séance of incorrect scheduling has had long enough to summon forth another 2-1 win for Norwich i'll correct as per.
9 points from 9.....and counting!! I can't believe so many contributors were reluctant to take this 'chore' on, but hey - their loss is your gain, bengaluru Like stealing candy from the proverbial baby, innit!
Reading has some injury problems. Their big scorers Joao and Meite are out. Now it looks like LB Richards is also out.
Further to that: "Reading have been rocked by a triple injury setback going into the Christmas fixture list. The club's two top goalscorers Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite are both sidelined for the rest of the year, while defender Omar Richards also faces a spell on the sidelines." Imagine the hardship of being 'rocked' by 3 injuries. Has our list ever been that low?
No Krul or Rupp tomorrow, but both back in training this week, in contention for the squad for the weekend. Dowell maybe ready for the bench soon, or not far off it. For Watford (the week after), Placheta and Gibson might be back in contention. Quintilla and Hernandez closing in on a return to training, might be available to play some part for the first team this month.
If (when) we win tonight, we will be 10 points ahead of 7th place. We are slowly stretching away from the pack. At the moment it is only Bournemouth that are able to keep pace with us, courtesy of a 1-0 win over lowly Wycombe. But then, we struggled to beat them
Bournemouth only managed their goal after Wycombe went down to 10 men. The Watford- Brentford draw was good for us, as was Bristol City losing.
You're right, he was. The line Michael Bailey used was "Dowell getting closer to being ready for coming on." I hadn't noticed he was on the bench at Blackburn, but I'd read into that line that he was only really there to make up the numbers, but might be able to play a proper part soon? But yes, generally the news is good. The only reason Quintilla isn't in training already is the need to isolate until he receives a second negative COVID test, after travelling back from Spain. A win tonight would be excellent, as stated 10 points from 7th, but we'd also be building a solid margin to the rest of the play-off contenders. Regardless of the result, we'll still be in the top 2, which is remarkable given the injury run we've had. We still don't have a fit LB, much as Sorensen has done well, and I don't think it's unfair to say we're yet to field a true "first choice XI" (Buendia and Cantwell haven't started together yet I think?). Farke has done well with limited options, it'll be interesting to see how the side now evolves with increased availability.
I think DF mentioned in one of his interviews that he has taken players who have sat on the bench even though they weren't quiet ready to play as he felt their presence helped.
When I accidentally started an mdt against Reading when we weren't even playing them I was mercilessly mocked and had to keep them on the poll. The next game some posters demanded the Reading option and it became a lucky superstition and a regular feature of our incredible run. I may possibly be Reading too much into it though
