The issue is people who pretend to care about the fishing industry when they're just using them as pawns, which unfortunately is a succinct description of the last 25 years as there's always somebody doing it - and yet when we are in a position to actually help them, what happens? Nothing, not a damn thing, which is why Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Rick Stein have done more for our fishermen than some chancer who was on the EU fisheries committee for years and never bothered to turn up, a chancer by the name of Nigel Garage (or something like that...) The same can be said for now, where John Redwood in particular is constantly thundering about "our" fish, which is what they become when crossing some imaginary line (a courtesy not offered to human beings, mind you) when the reality is that, by and large, UK-registered fishing vessels don't fish within those imaginary lines anyway This is what people like Daniel Kawczynski is legitimately talking about going to war over, and yet you don't hear the French, Spanish, Norwegian or Icelandic stating they'll sic their navy on any British fishing vessels they see

Fantasists seem to do quite well in the USA, the whole unbelievable Trump story reminds me of L Ron Hubbard the founder of scientology. Ron told lies like no tomorrow and made a fortune doing it and founded a completely bogus religion. Treat yourself read the Bare Faced Messiah. Ron's life story. it is way beyond belief, just like Trump. From blagging his way into the US Navy and rising to Commander eventually attacking another US Navy ship, to buying a Liner and cruising the world with no one on board with an ounce of seamanship to his master stroke, having discovered that churches in the US were not subject to tax he turned his sc fi business into a religion and it took off.
