    Gillingham 1-3 Barnet (Result)

I realise it's a meaningless competition, but that's eight games in a row we haven't kept a clean sheet. I still think we are capable of scraping seventh place this season, but the defence is a concern.

I don't think the defence is a concern as when Jack Payne is back and Joe martin we will be ok, I think our defence is good and tonight I would not count.

Just 1,278 watched tonight's game. I wonder how much it cost to get in? The competition is a waste of time. We're better off out of it!

Fish off injured too, Lee at right back for sat???

Might be meaningless but good opportunity to get confidence back up after sat. Once again didnt take our numerous chances and then the McLeod & Marshall rip us apart. Why cant we sign a player like Marshall :-(

On a sad note, sounds like an horrific injury in the Stanley v Tranmere game....all the best to Tom Bender a Welsh Youth international on loan from Colchester. Game called off in first half. Fingers crossed for him

There was a serious injury in the Accrington Stanley v Tranmere game tonight. Accrington's Tom Bender was treated on the pitch for 25 mins, and the game was abandoned.

ESPN Report said the poor lad collided with the keeper & another player ....he was moving when he left on stretcher but on oxygen and a drip and was in a lot of stress.

Surely you're not serious?? I thought the Payne - Nouble partnership was a breath of fresh air in the Gills team! Payne made some inspired runs in the first half and chased after every ones of the balls that got lumped up towards him in the second.
I think if anyone let the said down it was Rooney! Once again, he spent the entire game out of position, and although he had a couple of decent shots, he more than made up for them with the number of times he gave the ball away in dangeous areas. Lost count of the times he got to the ball to the attacking area then did that thing he does where he has to turn the defender four or five times before he does anything with it. Thats great the first couple of times but the defender always susses him out sharpish and casually makes the easy tackle every time Rooney trys it throughout the game.

I thought Kuffour played well, he linked well with Payne and Nouble, only problem with those three was we lacked Kedwell putting on the through balls. Kuffour tired early but that was pretty understandable. Other than that, I think he's got some good potential.

I agree that Payne had a good game, disagree that Rooney was poor. Rooney now seems to always have 2 defenders marking him and needs the other forwards to show movement to give him a target for the pass.

Grumpy, for me, Rooney always seems so desperate to prove himself and by doing this make himself his own worst enemy! At times, he shows flashes of brilliance but he needs to pass more, stop fannying around with it at the top of the area and stop running around like such a headless chicken!

As i said he sometimes doesn't have a pass to make because the forwards need the movement off the ball, if I have to be critical in any area it's when he loses the ball, he will often stop and flap his arms instead of chasing to win it back.
All that said he's 10 times better than last year with room for further improvement.
