I agree we have. I just don't like Birtles from previous games when he has commentated though. Alonso and Hughes have indeed been poor. I'm not a fan of Francis but he can't do a lot worse than Hughes. Doc has also looked shaky.
must remember tho, if we dont give alonso, evina, hughes games then they'll never get up to speed. we may have a really good starting 11, but looks grim beyond that. doherty has been especially sheet. still doesnt know if he's a striker or defender yet.
Glad I made the decision to watch this one from home. Hasn't been the best. Evina & Green are looking sharp. Think the Cormorant definitely needs to make an appearance.
Doherty can surely never play another game for us after this. So nervous on the ball.. I thought he was experienced?
evina shouted at doherty to pass it forward instead of to him. i have no idea how he had made it as a footballer. if he can it makes me wonder if i put in the effort i coulda made it.
Doc should of gone and Llerra retained far better option. BUT JPS so who cares, still think it`ll go to pens though.
I agree that Hughes, Alonso and Doherty have been shocking, and Hayes not much better. Alonso has persisted with the long, lofted passes for which he and his brother are known but these aren't the conditions for it. I wouldn't be too worried about our strength in depth. Many of these players inserted into our first team could do a job if necessary. Just playing together they are pants.
This was not a clever performance. Cr*p competition or not, this inept display is the sort of thing that leaves a nasty hangover to clear up before Saturday. Hughes - Donkey Alonso - Donkey Docherty - Arcturan Mega-Donkey - hope he never plays for us in any capacity again. Evina - Hopelessly lightweight at full back, half-decent going forward. Green - Lacking match practice and dangerously petulant. Wagstaff - clueless and whinging. Short, fat lino - absolute t*sser. Referee - spot on, good game. Good move by CP to give Taylor and Morrison half a game each. Let's forget this and move on to taking care of business against Tranmere - let's face it, it's the only competition that counts this season. End of rant.
Green played well tonight, unbeaten or not he should be in the 1st team instead of Wagstaff, I know Wagstaff played up front tonight but that didn't work either we never retained the ball up top long enough.
actually there is one disapointment tonight for me another year without a trip to the new Wembley Stadium. I don't want to make it through the league now after the start we've made and we've no chance in the FA Cup. 60 teams have made it to the new Wembley Stadium, anyone think we might be number 92?
Look at the positives - this match does not count; no points no goal difference calculations, nothing to do with a push for promotion. If Brentford want to focus on this and get to Wembley then let them do so - they could be pre-occupied when we play them next. We were pants because the first team players on the field hadn't played with the likes of Doc all season and hopefully will not do so again. Put the winning squad back together for Tranmere and hope it doesn't take them more than five minutes to remember who goes where.
to go back to the subject of the message, I can't stand Garry Birtles! I can't believe Sky have retained him for the last few years. His commentary can be ridiculously biased, and uninformed. He will get over-excited at something that barely even happened, and waste everyone's time talking about himself. He makes Andy Gray seem a reasonable choice as co-commentator. I dislike him so much, I joined this group about a year and a half ago on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=7070125145 PS Ray Wilkins is starting to grate on me as well, after watching the Bolton vs Chelsea game the other day, and having Ray talk warmly about every member of staff at Chelsea, and at one point he used a short sentence that included "Didier Drogba" (in full) 3 times. Last night, we were awful!
My relative comming down this week from hereford i ask them to ask pittman the manager whats his take on birtles -i might even ask the man himself why he hates cafc?
