Well the index, as it clearly says gives more weight to recent results, rather than what happened years ago. If people think their approach is wrong that's fine, I find it an interesting look at the current status of European football. Incidentally the UEFa rankings, AFAIK are mainly /wholly based on how teams do in Europe not their domestic leagues. So, there's a very good argument to say the Euro Club index is a more representative index. However, it's good to take note of all these indices, for me anyway. We are better than Liverpool, that much is plain to see by any reasonably objective observer, even before we utterly destroyed them. If they had an index for the most delusion fan-base, the Scousers would top it ever year So, it's not all bad news for them.
They want league titles at the start of each season that's not deluded that's called living in the past. I'm deluded... for thinking I could drink a bottle of Whiskey last night and have no headache today.
The UEFA Club Coefficients presents a far better representation of current European stature of a club. This basically adds how well the club has done in the past 5 seasons plus what country they are from and that is the total. The only times when it is inaccurate is when a team has very rapid fall from grace, such as Liverpool and (not to tempt fate) Arsenal. The opposite is also true (in the case of Man City). Spurs are a respectable 28th, which should rise if we progress far in the UEFA Cup, which I hope we do. We won't win the thing with our current UEFA Cup squad, but we can get to the quarters. With a bit more quality and fortune regarding which clubs drop down from CL, we could even get to the final.

Of course the UEFA index is relevant to domestic form, how do you get into Europe?...by doing well in your league. Anything thats including recent results/ form isn't as true as a complete season, just my opinion, and I wasn't dissing your index.
Fair comment notso I still have a feeling the ECI may give a better picture of domestic form. As we know a club from a less important league, say the Bulgarian one, might qualify for Europe whereas say Spurs might not as in 2009, but chances are that Spurs were better than any Bulgarian team that qualified. I think the ECI ranks teams by using weighting to differentiate between different countries. However, I may be well wrong. Anyway, it's a good point you make Thanks for all the replies to the thread so far. I only put the index up as something to debate, I wasn't saying it was perfect. I was a bit suprised at the reaction to the Index by some, but fair enough, I accept that rankings indices might get some people in 'dismissive mode'.

If its a complete season I agree, for example any stats up to now don't reflect the opposition faced, Citeh although above us, have had easier fixtures so far. Its also a good point you make about us being better than several clubs above us in that uefa list, but it is a fair reflection of judging English teams success.
It's based on primarily domestic football, no surprise Real are ahead of ManUsa, they win a lot more league matches I imagine. Not fair, I know, but that's the way this particular ranking works.
And the fact that those top 2 also do well in the CL is like a double win. Eg, Rangers/Celtic prob win more league games than ManUtd, but in a ****e league. If you put Barca+Real Madrid in the scottish league instead of Rangers+Celtic you'd probably end up with Hearts being in the top 10!!
