Shame he didn't come off his line and save the retake too. Because I'm fairly sure that results in a yellow card - which would have meant a red. Conceding a penalty, having two saves discounted, and then getting sent off would have been some sequence of events.
Already feels like West Ham could score a sackful, given how open Leeds are. Although that's not to say that Leeds couldn't make up for it at the other end.
Millimetres off of his line but it should have been retaken for the encroachment anyway. I know VAR doesn't look at that.
Encroachment is fine when the player(s) encroaching has no impact on the play. Had the ball rebounded to Bamford, or he blocked a WH defender from getting to the rebound, then it would have been illegal. But as the ball went in, Bamford being inside or outside was a zero relevance. Fabianski wouldn't have been pulled up either, if he hadn't saved it.
Technically that is incorrect. A penalty should be retaken if it is scored and only attacking players encroach or it is saved/missed and only defensive players encroach. Penalty retaken if both sets of players encroach regardless of whether it's scored or not. Of course in reality this rarely happens. It has to be glaringly obvious.
Wolves v Villa. Dreadful game. I’ve been trying to stay awake watching it. High spot of the game - red card for Douglas Luiz .....
Is that 11 or 12 now? 2 reds as well ..... and there were 2 or 3 more which I thought deserved yellows but weren’t given .....
Unfortunately for Wolves that won't be the final time that they're the better team but end up blanking, whilst they're without their main man.
