Lucas doesn't need to slide around and dive into challenges. He closes down the player and nicks the ball which is just as effective.

Get back to the opta website you freak, I judge players with my eyes not opta stats. He cant make a clean tackle to save his life and constantly gives away free kicks in dangerous areas. Also I regularly see players waltz past him as if he isn't there. eg the way Nasri and Frimpong did in the arsenal game. Opta may say he's highest success rate over the few games this season but that means nowt

when everyone else is telling you that you're wrong and you outright refuse to see thier side then either you are a wum like they say you are or you're just incapable of seeing anyone else's point.

either way makes you impossible to deabte with.

for the record you are bashing our player of the year, now think about that for just one second and maybe you'd realise an awful lot of people think a lot more of the player than you do.... if that gets through for just one second you might have an epiphany... you might realise you don't always know more than everyon else... oh i dunno like kenny dalglish who just spent 100mil+ and didn't even think of replacing the guy....

Using my eyes I have seen him making some glorious challenges and great pressing play that doesn't involve making a tackle. I suppose Mascherano never gave silly free kicks then. <ok>

Lucas is miles better than he was.

Saying that when you're the worst player ever at one point improvement is the only option lol.

I think you have been snoozing rather than watching! In the Arsenal game Nasri made 1 contribution of any note and Frimpong showed his blistering ability in the tackle (surprisingly on Lucas) that got him sent off - neither waltzed passed Lucas.

Now name me one defensive midfield player who does not give away free kicks? The tell me in which games any of those free kicks resulted in goals?

Think it's time that you visited your optician.

BTW, LFC-009 is quite correct when he daws your attention to the different style that Lucas brings to the role. Masch was our last true defence-dog and he gave away far more free kicks.

The stats are used to disprove the bollocks you've been spouting on here. E.g you say he can't tackle but the stats say differently. The stats are right, your view of Lucas' tackling is obviously tainted by the fact that you don't like him, the stats are impartial therefore they are more valuable and aren't ******ed like your views on Lucas.

And whats all this you see players constantly waltzing past him? You've listed two examples and he's been here for 4 seasons and a bit, I think if it constantly happened you could list at least 20 or 30 examples, but you can't, because it simply doesn't happen.

    3 basic types of tackles.

    1. block
    2. stab
    3. sliding

blocking tackles mean you are in position, in front of the player.... stab is where you are not quite in position but can run alongside and attacker and knock the ball away. the sliding tackle is the last option where you're way out of position and trying to get there last ditch.

    thats how i was coached.

simply put lucas makes more block tackles than anything and it is very glaring that adam is ball watching beside him and getting passed around and lucas is having to cover an awful lot of ground behind him.

In the end alonso was slated 2-3 years ago for being too slow and not going and doing enough. then he returned to fitness and was amazing for the last season. in short some players are very unsung due to the job they do. deschamps for france was called a water carrier.

Lucas is good at what he does.
He's very unspectacular but that's often what you need in that role.
He was by far the least culpable midfielder at WHL, though I'd suggest that Dalglish's tactics and team selection cost you more than any individual performances.

Does anyone believe that you have a definite first XI at the moment or has Gerrard's absence ruled that out?

Leaving aside the Spurs match - in which everything was wrong - the difference at Liverpool this season is that we are not relying upon a First 11. The whole idea that KK is trying to implement is that of the SQUAD. Hence we should be able to pick the best starting 11 for the opponents that we are playing and then still have subs on the bench to not only cover injuries but also change the strategy.

That looks to be at odds with your appearance stats though, Dave.
Reina, Adam, Carragher, Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Enrique, Lucas and Suarez have all played at least some part in every league game so far.
Kuyt, Agger and Skrtel all appear to have played whenever available, too.

Yeah, and in addition to that, we've seen appearances from Johnson, Coates, Gerrard, Bellamy, Kelly, Spearing, Maxi.

Shelvey & Aquilani are out on loan, Aurelio is recovering from injury.

So it's clear the KK is making use of the SQUAD rather than relying on a 1st 11 <ok>

Was Kuyt not on the bench for Sunderland and Tottenham? Plus Carroll didn't start vs Bolton and Stoke. Skrtel was on the bench against Bolton and Arsenal aswell.

No one's saying they aren't going to play, Dave's point is that they won't play every week, and our starting line up will be rotated.

Not that I agree with that, I would say our starting line up is going to be more or less something like this:

Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Enrique; Downing, Lucas, Gerrard, Bellamy; Suarez, Carroll

with a few changes depending on Dalglish's preferences. I can't see us changing our team based on who we're playing versus to be honest. I reckon in a month we'll have a settled XI.

I disagree. As the season develops we will see more and more of the squad being used - and not just to cover injuries.

I don't agree with him on Lucas at all, but Welshred is not a wum he's been around a while and is usually quite sensible. Not on this occasion though imo.

I haven't refused to see anyones side,I think everyones entitled to their opinion, its was him who attacked me for expressing a perfectly reasonable opinion that Parker is better than Lucas (which I think 90% of football fans would agree with). I dont rate him, you guys do. Fine by me. I dont think I have "bashed" him I've got nothing personal against the guy merely pointed out that I think he makes too many poor tackles and gives away alot of free kicks. Got nothing else to say on Lucas.

Like I said first of all I do think we'll be above spurs despite what I said
