https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...derland-oldham-player-ratings-efl-19423207?t= Here's how James Hunter rated the Black Cats performance: ANTHONY PATTERSON 8 Might have done better with the goal, but more than made up for it with two or three excellent saves CONOR McLAUGHLIN 7 Looks comfortable at right-back now Sunderland have switched to a back four BAILEY WRIGHT 6 Generally OK, although he was caught out by Grant in the first half TOM FLANAGAN 7 A solid performance, and his well-timed covering challenge on Grant at the end of the first half dug Sunderland out of trouble CALLUM McFADZEAN 6 A couple of chances to get an effort on goal in the first half but didn’t make the keeper work JOSH SCOWEN 7 Capped a decent performance with the winning goal GRANT LEADBITTER 7 Precision free-kick for Scowen’s goal and set up a good chance for Power MAX POWER 5 Not at his best and was hooked shortly after the hour JACK DIAMOND 7 Sunderland’s best attacking outlet in the first half, and Maguire’s goal came from one of his crosses CHRIS MAGUIRE 6 Right place at the right time to score the goal but was also guilty of some sloppy play in the first half WILL GRIGG 6 Ran the channels and held up the ball well but he needs to offer more goal threat SUBS CHARLIE WYKE 6 For Grigg 64mins. Looked sharp on his return to action AIDEN McGEADY 6 For Maguire 64mins. A couple of decent forays forward as he continues to build match-fitness GEORGE DOBSON 6 For Leadbitter 70mins. Fresh legs helped in the final stages NOT USED: Matthews, Neil, Embleton, Graham
Wasn't pretty but I'll take it Positives: Diamond, Patterson & Grigg Negatives: Wright, Power & general lack of defensive organisation
Don’t understand why Leadbitter was taken off dead ball duties , compared to Scowen or Maguire he is a lot better other than when Maguire has a shooting opportunity.
Nah have you not heard of Oldham car batteries they were the best, keeping the floodlights on all night literally till morning which will annoy their neighbours .
Same here, the bloke talks a lot of sense and is facing up to all our issues. Really does make Parky seem like a relic from the past.
Purely because of the game v villa u23’s when they were scared to head it, Parkinson once again not seeing the wood from the trees It pleases me that lj has spotted that within days
He speaks very differently to the usual bullshit we are used to. Very tactical and analytical. Can't see any of the players getting away with slacking off
kept off the thread to see if it changed anything...and we won, so well done me cheers again RTB.. reet, better performance for a start, nothing amazing just better which is all we can ask atm to be fair. grigg, thought he looked a little more interested on sarrada and that continued tonight i felt...hopefully grab a goal or two soon and kick on. diamond, spot on again...couple of times he lost the ball too easy but always willing to try something, defenders never know which way he is going so can allow the odd loss, this side of his game will improve but pleased with his crossing tonight. midfield did not seem troubled until the subs...sorry dobson but you scare me every time the ball comes near you...calm yersel down lad instead of looking like a permanent panic. patterson, will have to watch that goal again but looks to me like he had his arm behind it yet it bounced over ...maybe a slight 'kick' off the turf but unlucky i feel, 2nd half though, excellent stop from the deflected shot and basically did what he needed to do despite a long time stood doing feck all. so to recap, we won, against 11 men, away from home, scored more than one goal and did not need a penalty to do it...i will accept that with open arms, LJ says it himself, a long way to go and lots of work to do but have to say that little bit of improvement reminded me of when BSA came along, just little bits of our general play that was better.
For me he is showing direction, we can see we are working towards something. We know there will be bad results most likely in the mean time but we know what the end result will be like. We never saw any of that under PP
He speaks really well. He knows what needs doing and it sounds like he will have the backing to do it
Sign him up. Obviously has more stamina, and on a static exercise bike has covered more ground than Danny Graham. Danny Graham on an exercise bike for 2 hours...... That's the kind of thing Mulder and Scully would d investigate in the X-Files. Human abducted and replaced by an alien doppelganger. Actually, that's what we should do if he ever scores. No crowd cheering, just play the theme from the X-Files.
Yeah according to either Benno or Nick Barnes it was him you could hear shouting late on. Edit/ Sorry RTB was typing so didn't see you had answered him
