Just got into a pretty long back and forth with WMS lads over SD. For what its worth - i think they have a personal problem with SD and CM. The reason for that could be anything, given SD and CM have lied a lot about the fanbase. They are also making lot of assumptions about possible role for SD, in particular. I can't see how SD is going to be running the club, in the future. We now have: A football strategy A Sporting Director - likely been appointed by a combo of Jones,Rodwell, KLD, JS maybe SD and CM A new manager - Johnson likely been appointed by Speakman and Rodwell New money coming in As the current owner - what is the problem of Johnson talking to SD. WMS are being judge and jury on a prospective new board without knowing any details, like us all, of % split, investment.
I think he's just trying to create as much of a story out of him trying to buy sunderland as possible, so that it enhances his standing as a "big hitter". No doubt in a year or 2 he will try to buy a smaller club and present himself as the guy who "nearly bought Sunderland".
I’m personally hoping he will disappear into the background once the new ownership group have a majority shareholding..with Donald still the current majority shareholder he has been part of this process.. but he resigned as chairman and Methven resigned from the board a while ago so once the EFL completes its processes they will only be minority shareholders.
I really think it’s time the club gave us an update on where we are with either a takeover/change of control with a new majority shareholder.. because at the minute there are so many conflicting theories.. Even the bearded one is saying Juan has taken out high interest loans to finance all of this..that the club will be saddled with.
You do know that SD is still the owner, and as such still has a say in the day to day running of the club? Any new employees would have to meet him. There is every reason to believe though, that this new structure has nothing to do with him. Why? 1) We're skint - where does the money come from for paying Parkinson off and financing the re-structure. 2) Why would he bother setting this new structure up while he's actively trying to sell the club. 3) Both Johnson and Speakman referring to "The ownership group". Very strange and scripted words. Just about every new manager who joins a club speaks of the chairman or owner as an individual. Donald will still be running things at the club, but I think he's got a leash around his neck now, being told what he has to do by the potential new owners until they come in officially.
Tend to agree with this. I like the WMS podcasts, but they are quite a delicate bunch - every pod they make some joke about an opinion they've just given being twisted by fans on social media in some negative way. They really DO seem to have a massive issue with SD, not sure if that is due to his preference to use Roker Rapport as his mouthpiece in the early days. FWIW I don't care who is in the boardroom as long as we have a vision and structure in place, and the board provide the Head Coach with the funds to sign players to get us out of this league. The rest is just background noise
They aren't going to me even said on STID itd get investors or sell. So they got investment. They will begin background, so be it. Its our club and we can make his life difficult again if we have to.
