I put Chelsea in the prediction thread at the start of the season to be up there. He's sorted the defence out without having to stick 10 behind the ball. Fair play, probably too early for a league title but there's definite progress and something being built by those ****s.

Isn't.

<laugh> Leicester.

Look, it’s great that they won the league, it really is; a fairy story, dreams do come true sometimes, all that ****e. But why pretend they will ever be title contenders again?

ps. Sorry @FosseFilberto . But you know I’m right, tell em ffs.

They still have a few players who did it and knew what it takes. IF it's like this in March (big if), I can see any team that holds its nerve for the final ten games and puts a run together to do it. But you'd obviously be inclined to think that'll be a team that has a core of players who've done it before.

If it’s on Sky I won’t be watching, if it’s on BT I probably will. Can’t actually be arsed to check at this moment in time, so it’s not like I’m massively bothered tbh. Should be a good game though; the only people writing off Utd seem to be Utd fans. The massively entitled ****s don’t seem to have noticed that they and their manager are not entirely hopeless.

Five points off the leaders with a game in hand in mid December is a good position. They know it.

Possibly but the business end of the season will say more about their chances than what happens now.

If they finish Top 4 comfortably which imo they will, then Lampard has done well with a new group of players after doing it with a team he inherited last season. And he'll be proving himself to be a decent manager in the making imo.

Agree with all that, but my point is that I suspect that nobody will have the lead we had last season by March, or City did a few years ago: if City are six points ahead in March though, it'll be difficult to catch them because they're experienced. But if Chelsea are in the same situation they are now (or Leicester) I'd fancy them more than Spurs or even United because they have squad players who've done it. But tbf to Spurs, they have Jose, who knows the mind games too.

Indeed.

To build something takes time and effort, not one window and 250m+

Chelsea have never built a thing bar that ****ty hotel at the ground.

Basically what you're saying is it's open as fck <laugh>

I was listening to Rene Meulensteen earlier speaking about United, but what he said pretty much applies to any of the teams you've mentioned. Whoever is there or thereabouts come March, it will be the side which shows consistency (something lacking with quite a few at the moment in this weird covid infected fanless season) that will win it. I hate to say it but I think that's already showing itself to be Liverpool.

I don't think City have the squad to btw. I said it in the summer, the spine of that team has been ripped out and they lack depth. They won't be winning the league.

I have no love of Chelsea, fck 'em, but the players he's brought in, he still has to manage them and put a team together that's performing week in week out. So yeh he is building something. Don't let your hate cloud your judgement bro.

We are some way off being title contenders ... but we have everything going to be competitive for European places for years to come and possibly a cup or two ... and after decades of mediocrity (and worse) that will do just fine for the majority of our fanbase ... next step in our evolution, stadium expansion <cheers>

PS Watford could be genuine title contenders ... but may have to settle for the play-offs <whistle>
