Owen is probably one of the worst players in our history. No other individual combines insane wages, pure laziness, wasted potential, a record fee and post retirement slagging off like Michael Owen. No, he's not probably, he is the worst player we've ever had by almost all metrics. He was also completely ****ing useless on the pitch.
Hmm if its not about the worst then it becomes more tricky. Do you base it on performance, general not giving a ****, not providing value for money? The latter doesn't come into it for me. The clubs decide how much someone is worth. They carry the can for all that as stewards of the club. So Owen while he's a dislikable little ****er wouldn't get near this list for me. He was a massive waste of money, but that was solely down to fat Fred's ego trip. Even Souness told him not to do it. He certainly didn't give a **** as much as he should but he put more effort in than many I can mention, and his actual record is not that bad. Scored 30 in 80 games or something like that. I mean Marcelino is gonna be difficult to beat. He literally did not give a ****. Maric was another who just didn't want to know. Kluivert was massively unprofessional. HBA was massively unprofessional but then at least he delivered some joy. These are the types of guys though who have taken the piss out of the club. We had a group chat about this not long ago and decided to split the wasters and those that just couldn't play. If you made both lists then you were a prize ****. I read an article a mate sent which summed up The Mag and what an utterly use waste of space it is. They were putting a worst team together and somehow managed to shoehorn Danny Simpson at right back Made up some bullshit about him struggling in the PL for us? I mean Simpson was no world beater but he'd get no where near our worst players XI.
He actually had a good goals per game ratio, so while he was a prick ill stick with the likes of andreas Anderson and Paul kitson
Its all down to your personal metrics. I just personally think as a whole package, Owen is probably our worst purchase and in all, probably was a walking and talking personification of Newcastles downfall. He was everything we did wrong as a club in player form.
I wouldn't I'd rather be in league one with Sunderland than have that horse ****ing **** anywhere near us
I'd say some of the players on that list are more of an indication of the ****ness of our club setup when you look at what they went on to do elsewhere

Titus Bramble. I know there's players with worse attitudes but watching him setting himself up to attempt a 75 yard wonder pass that failed 9/10 times still gives me nightmares.
Absolutely this, the snivelling, mercenary little sh*te. He promised us so much and in the end, delivered absolutely nowt. And to this day the boring, predictable little b'tard still has nothing decent to say about his tenure here...
