I'm with you on this one, Yorkshire. It seems harder to separate out the interesting debate from the social chatter. I've no objection to the latter, I just don't want to plough through all of it to find something relevant to me. Also I feel the surreal humour we once had seems a bit thin on the ground now. End result...I post infrequently.

Still, I'm off to Mallorca for a few days now so not606 won't be high on my list of priorities.

Theo, I will help encourage the surreal humour back.

I bumped into an owl friend the other day, and told him I was getting married. He said, "you twit, to who".

I used to work in a card board box factory. I earned a packet.

I thought a small beverage list today.

We have lots of snow today. I did not see that coming so early in the year.

Morning ak, thanks for the f_coffee.gif

I know what you mean Yorkie, when I'm busy at work I tend not to see the nest for a couple of days and it takes a while to catch up. However I had a quick look at the old Nest's (yes, they are still sitting there on the Beebs website) and it was mainly general chatter for the last month. There was certainly a lot more drinking in the old nest.

I think that if you wanted to discuss something you just started a new thread. It didn't matter if anyone replied to it, you just did it anyway. Nowadays it feels a lot harder to open a new thread. Not because of the technical side but more of if people will complain that the topic has already been discussed somewhere else. I'd rather there was a new thread created if the subject was starting to take off. But I know the subject of opening and closing threads has been discussed on many occasions and it always leaves us divided in our opinions.

Anyway I hope that you can still contribute whenever you can, I still enjoy the chatter and I always learn something new in the nest. <ok>

When I created this thread I thought the Nest would be renewed in the same way as 606. The limit the BBC had did not apply and this Nest has just grown and grown and grown. We did have a vote to see if it should be limited or not and the not limited votes won. A long time after the vote some people were talking about the size of the Nest and how it was difficult to follow anything or having many thousands of posts was putting people off.

What I propose is to allow this nest to run to 20.000 posts and then stop and have a new Nest. After this each nest will live for two months. The next Nest will be The Hornest Nest XXII as we managed twenty on the BBC and one here.

I don't think that the problem is due to the size of the nest, more likely the content. The nest was always a place of general chat, but if a subject started to get interesting you could create a new thread to continue it further. That way you could see from the main content board what topics were being discussed.

If there was nothing of interest you'd just pop back into the nest for a pint and this would always end up with a new discussion on something.

    Hope that makes sense?

With the snow has arrived smaller bensín prices. 95 okt is ÍSK228,20 and diesel is ÍSK231,00 at Orkan petrol station. The prices translate to GBP1,246 and GBP1,26

It makes perfect sense Sandy. And i think that would be the way forward..more threads means less confusion. It worked there, there's no reason why it wouldn't work here :)

Thanks H, hope it does help.

I looked over some of the other boards and there are only a couple virtual pubs across all of the other teams. Looks like most boards just have specific threads, not many seem to have or want a central meeting place for general chat. I think we are lucky with our nest. :)
