Cowley is saying he ended the talks because of the time scale involved. I'm not sure I believe him there. Surely we're too good an opportunity to turn down for someone like him. Or am I being too biased?
He might have felt the place needed upheaval, which it definitely does. And that the deadlines being placed on it were just too tight, which they probably are. Johnson has a hell of a challenge on his hands. It's no certainty he is a success. I don't begrudge Cowley disagreeing with the vision one bit. It would have been nice of Parkinson had been more realistic about his ability compared to the task at hand. Or Simon Grayson.
For any manager Sunderland must be seen as a potential giant, or for some, a potential graveyard for their career. Anyone looking at managing Sunderland must have done their homework and realised that this is about as hard a job as there is. Fair play to the Cowleys if reports are true, and the same for Johnson. He is young and ambitious...but he must know that if this goes dramatically tits up as it has for others, his career will get a huge kick in the knackers

I don't think Dreyfuss did. It would be very strange. I don't think Donald did either, although he does say he spoke to him. I think the recruitment people interviewed with a brief from the , " owners group".
Says he "spoke to him" rather than was interviewed by him WiseMenSay having a twitter meltdown about this. Guess none of us will know for sure. Not entirely sure that it matters
