Actually really incorrect. Look at the PL NLDs over the past decade and the results are effectively home wins, with a draw sometimes and a home loss once.
Somewhere during the second half, I thought to myself if this was the reverse situation I would be saying ''with all this possession , but not scoring in 100 days''
What a day, lunch with my daughter and 4 month old grand daughter and had to watch the game on my phone , is it cruel to introduce my grand daughter to the Tottenham way , I'm not sure my ticker can take many second periods like today but in hindsight Hugo only made 2 saves and one of them was from our defender , you can see from our player reaction that they have brought into the system
exactly this When we Win I’m happy when we play scintillating wowzers tippy tappy stuff and lose...who gives a ****
As we all did against teams like Burnley, WBA and getting beat by Chelsea ,Arse , and the 2 Manchester clubs Can't say I'm a lover of Jose ball but will put up with this for now
Even then, not significantly better. The results of the NLD over the past decade do not give any indication as to the end fates of both clubs in the PL campaigns.
23 league goals in 11 games 25 EL goals 8 games 1 CC goal in 1 game 49 goals in 20 games 68 goals in our 20 games in total Won 14 (1 on penalties) Drawn 4 Lost 2 I'll take that kind of boring
Mourinho teams do play attacking football. However at the first sign of potential risk he will switch to more defensively-minded tactics. I was not happy with the CM performance today given twas a home NLD. As I have said there is the possibility that Jose is playing so just to get the results up to mid january (after which the fixture schedule will revert to normal season spacing) .
If Pochettino hard been able to shut games down when we were winning we may have won some silverware. No Liverpool fan gives a shot how unwatchable the 2019 CL final was cos they won. No gooner gives a toss that they only had 30% possession and 4 attempts on goal in an Fa Cup semi and 40% and 3 attempts on target in the final cos they won both. No Leicester fan gives a toss about playing a "long ball game" when they won the league. If we score a couple and shut up shop that'll be fine by me tbh. We counter attack brilliantly and when we can smash teams we do... We have scored 3 goals or more ... 3 times in the prem 6 times in EL 9 times in total in 20 games. We have scored 2 or more... 6 times in the prem 7 times in the EL 13 times in 20 games We have only failed to score in ... 2 prem games 1 EL game None of this is a dig BTW...just makes me laugh that people are calling us boring when we are the second highest scorers in the league, averaging over 2 per game.
Couldn’t agree more. What Jose understands better than anyone is that with world class attackers and a solid, intelligent setup in midfield and defensively, anything is possible. We have multiple world class forwards, a defensive midfield unit in Højbjerg and Sissoko that can stifle the opposition, one of the best keepers in the league, and a defence that seems to have been rejuvenated with players that many, including myself, had written off in the last 18 months. I’m not getting carried away but this team is blueprint Jose and the man knows how to win trophies. We just beat Arsenal 2-0 at home with them barely getting a sniff and scored two incredibly pleasing goals, particularly Kane’s because who doesn’t a love a goal pinged in off the woodwork like that, hit so hard the echo is probably still going round the Lane. As far as I’m concerned, that’s happy days. There’s an awfully long way to go in this season but I’m very happy with where we are and excited to see what’s to come. This time last year I’d have bitten my hand off to be where we are now. We’re far from perfect in many ways but I’m excited to see where Jose can take us.
There is another alternative. Play like we did v Utd. That's when I'm happiest. I like to finish the odd game with a win AND my fingernails.
Very aggressively defensive post there. I don't think you're overly defensive for the record. I've just seen quite a few of your own fans on here saying they don't enjoy watching Spurs play these types of games though which is where my original question came from. And come on, it doesn't make you laugh. It makes you annoyed that these posters (who are they though?) don't appreciate your good results. Saying it 'makes you laugh' is almost as Trumpish as HIAG and PISKIE arguing over how little the other one ever wound each other up.
this is what I don’t understand it was 1-1 when it was 11v11 it changed after the sending off but that game is seen as what we should be doing.
Fair enough, but I don't think it is sustainable to keep absorbing the pressure we are under. We are too reliant on poor finishing from other teams and worldies for us. As poor as Arsenal were yesterday, there were a few occasions when on another day they'd have scored. I get playing how we did against City. But Arsenal?
I don't like Mourinho and I didn't want him appointed but he was appointed our manager...so, you have to press reset and deal with what happens next. Last season, pre-Covid, I wasn't impressed...at all. Giving Aurier a free role...constantly playing Dier as a midfielder when the bloke couldn't run better than me...making dangerously snap judgments over Ndombele and Lo Celso...overplaying Kane and Sissoko over the Christmas/New Year period...not using Tanganga (soon enough) or Skippy or Parrott (pretty much at all) when they were there, waiting to be given game time and we really needed bodies. There were others (admitting we couldn't win games in advance is a huge no-no) but that'll do for now. This season has been a lot better...a whole lot better and is inline with what I was expecting when he was appointed. We can defend (even Aurier) and we're using the attributes of Lo Celso and Ndombele to break the lines and thereafter the speed of Sonny, Lucas and Bergwijn to really hurt teams. I still don't like watching us, given the way that we play, but as our only fully functioning central defenders are pretty bloody slow, it makes perfect sense to defend as we do and creates the perfect space for our attacking capabilities. He's now using what he's got properly and playing 4-3-3, which is what our players suit and having success with it. I can support that...even when it makes my eyes bleed on occasions.
