It’s up to the players I guess and no one is forcing them. Our stadium is now named after a knife crime charity.

The answer is to see if other club's supporters continue to be happy with taking the knee before matches. I don't know if it's planned to be a regular feature in the EFL

There’ll inevitably be a vocal minority at most if not all clubs. Not sure that proves anything.

Someone should have explained the nuances to him.

Hopefully Cameron will wear his MAGA hat and they’ll cheer us on to victory.

Slept on this and thought more about it.

I am just going to say again if you think that the boos at Millwall were borne of political analaysis and not racism...then you are either naive, blinkered or just plain dumb.

    It is pure racism

I don't think there's any need for abuse, Beth - particularly from a mod

I think this was always likely to happen, there was booing at West Ham yesterday but that hasn't had the same coverage. There is undoubtedly racism around and the TV coverage continues to look for scapegoats to push their message, remember who were the first team to get the 'treatment' from Sky ramming the message down everyone's throats and Sir Les rightly put them in their place.

I continue to believe this empty gesture is actually turning into a own goal as it is becoming a focus for divisiveness. Proper actions on racism are far more effective rather than pandering to the cameras...

Goldie. It is something I feel very, very strong about. I am allowed to have my own views as a mod.

I think the comments about the fans only booing as a response to the politicisation of BLM was a naive comment. The booing was racism pure and simple.

I do not think you or anyone on this forum is a crass enough to boo players taking the knee, even if you disapprove of BLM. I do not think you or anyone on this forum is dumb either. I have spoken on this forum to you all at length, and although I do not agree with everyones views, I can see that you are all intelligent thinking people.

But there were a number of dumb supporters in that crowd yesterday, if they thought booing their own players was going to motivate them to beat WRDC.
And for once I was very glad WRDC won.

I hope that makes it clear.
And to say it again ....It was racism

I suspect that, considering it's Millwall we're talking about, it was mainly pure racism.
However, I still think Goldie makes a valid point.

A little clumsily worded Beth in my humble opinion.

I'm glad you weren't referring to anyone on this board as dumb, Beth. I understand you feel strongly about racism, and you're right to do so. It's been a scourge in this country, and personally, I feel that campaigns like the Kick Racism Out of Football were a great unifying force. I'd wear that particular T shirt any day.

But the political movement, BLM, is taking a divisive approach, and for me, players standing with their fists raised in the air, as happened at Millwall yesterday, reminiscent of the old militant and violent Black Power Movement, is simply regression and produces the negative response we heard. We're going to go backwards and it's a shame.

In my opinion “taking the knee” has served its purpose, the same as clapping the NHS, which was why the young nurse who inspired it decided to end it after 10 weeks.
“Taking the knee “ has now become a political event rather than its intended purpose which was to educate and support a stand against racism, which is why I believe our club and LF scaled it down so to speak and left it too the individual, but in response to the disgusting behaviour yesterday at the new den all I can say is if it was any other clubs fans they would be booing the political aspect of it however with it being Millwall fans doing it it was surely a racist response by the Neanderthal element that support the vilest club in the football league.

I wonder whether the booing was also a reminder that a Millwall fan fought a terrorist during the London Bridge attacks.

I’m struggling to see the link there but it’s been established it’s incredibly nuanced and they could have been booing for a multitude of reasons as well as the blindingly obvious one. Some of them may have been shouting boo-urns.

Well, George Eustice, Environment Minister ex UKIP Tory, said pretty much the same as Goldhawk, that BLM is a political organisation so gestures against racism are an offence, or something like that, so I now feel we are entering a post modern, deconstructualist realm of nuance that only Millwall season ticket holders have a firm grasp of. I certainly don’t.

I thought it was only kids who could hear dog whistles.
