Obviously a conspiracy in the pit stop cock-up by Mercedes preserve Hamilton's image as a top driver, otherwise they would looked daft for paying him tens of millions when others could have done just as well. Then shape-shifting alien fans of his punctured his tyre just to make sure.
also fresh soft tyres, they are much faster than older medium/hards similar to how bottas fell back becasue he got put on used tyres
Todays race says a lot more about bottas than it does of Hamilton. It does seem that any half decent driver in that car with bottas as no 2 could piss it.... Says a lot that racing point in last years merc are 3rd in the champ too. So gutted for Russell, he could genuinely never have another op to win a grand prix
Your "last comment from me on this thread" lasted all of just over a day. I'm of the opinion Hamilton would have ignored their instruction to pit, as he did recently. As for anyone winning in that car, it begs the question as to why their reserve driver wasn't driving it. I look forward to the possibility of Hamilton and Russell in the same team.
yeah the last few laps cant be disguised by the fact that the two drivers were on totally different rubber. toto live on sky with an unexpected expletive summed up the pit stop. but i do think hamilton is that good a driver he would have picked his car up single handedly and ran around carrying it for half a lap whilst fixing the puncture and also writing some rap and then blowing it up and going on to win. he is that good. seriously feel for russel but today sh yeah but come on after what happened this weekend i think ive performed miracles not being tempted into validating my claim that hamilton is not as great as everyone thinks he is cos hes in by far the best car. Hamilton would have ignored the pit order and then if punctured, picked the car up and ran round for a couple of laps (setting the lap record in the process) fixed the puncture and then gone on to win by 2 clear laps. he is really that good. in 2 years driving a normal car russel never got out of Q2 before this weekend. put him in a merc and he was within 200th's of pole. this despite him not knowing the car and even asking after a few laps on race day "where is the overtake button?" you defended bottas saying it was the conditions why he was poor the other week. was it too dark for him sunday?
Doing a double stack pit as they did was 100% the right thing to do, if it had gone right they'd have still been in #1 and #2 with fresh tyres on

That Hamilton puncture scenario may well have happened, but only in your head. As for Bottas, I mentioned him going off several times in the wet and in no way used this as a defence of him been poor in that race, you seem to have missed my "Bottas isn't in the same league as Hamilton" comment.
That's true, but I'm still of the opinion Hamilton would have ignored a pit stop ,as he did so a couple of races ago with just a few laps left and went on to win. That day also saw a late pit stop and the driver parked the car after the pit lane exit, can't remember now who it was but these things happen.
What ever the why's and wherefores, it's clearly put to bed any claims that Hamilton is some sort of wizard at the wheel worthy of comparison to the actual greats, as it is clearly the car that is superior.
I'd like to see Hamilton racing against Russell in the Mercedes, I'm not sure the 'actual greats' had anything other than the best car, greats like Schumacher in a very dodgy best car Benneton.
That'd be fun. Do you think Hamilton could keep on the same lap without having to ask his pit crew to hamstring the other guy?
Fangio won 5 World Championships in 4 different cars. As for driving, Stirling Moss won all sorts of events outside of FI and used 84 different cars doing so, Mille Miglia, various rallies, endurance events... Then there is John Surtees, who won 7 motorcycle World Championships and a F1 World Championship. My own favourite Graham Hill won a F1 Championship, Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500, the only man to do so.Those had all round driving ability and showed it in different cars in all sorts of races. Modern F1 drivers will never do those other things to be judged by.
