NEIL LENNON EXIT: The brief rise and long fall of Lennon as Bolton Wanderers manager www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/14346043.amp/
Watched MOTD last night and I hope that we have a huge sell on clause for Ebs because he was superb for Palace yesterday..... the lad will be worth a huge amount in a few years..... It's like the proud dad saying "that's my boy"...... Looks like Palace have worked out where to play him coming in off the left and allowing him to roam in the centre...... he's taken to premier league football like a duck to water....... wonderful....
I haven't been paying too much attention to his performances. I did notice he is starting more lately than he did when he went to Palace first. I saw the highlights of the Palace V Newcastle game last week and for one of the Newcastle goals, he lost the ball casually just outside the Newcastle box. Newcastle broke at speed, Eze tracked back for about 30 yards and then seemed to almost stop. Five seconds later, the ball was in the back of the Palace net. His attacking skills are great but at times, his defensive play leaves a bit to be be desired. It has improved over the last 12-18 months but until it improves further, I can't see any of the bigger clubs looking to sign him from Palace. He is a good lad, he got us a big transfer fee so I wish him all the best and I hope he really does reach the very top.
I've watched as much of his premier league game time as I can. I've seen a few examples of him chasing back and I reckon one of the reasons he's keeping his place is that he's realised he's got to do that, especially in a Hodgson team. In my opinion he's the most gifted player we've had since Adel and I believe he'll be at a top club before he's 25. MOTD2 made him MOTM against West Brom, even though Saha scored twice. He is an unbelievable talent.
I feel so proud watching him, and then there is always a slight twinge of sadness too. Delighted he's doing so well. Cracking free kick the other week.
I can't believe he has scored a goal in the PL. I remember going to Derry to see him playing in the Milk Cup underage tournament for a QPR under 16's team managed by Mark Bircham about 9/10 years ago. He was about 6 inches shorter than the other lads and looked about 12 (even though he was about 14 at the time) compared to the other 15/16 year old's. Even now, it is hard to believe he is the same height as his fellow players as he was so small then. If you'd have said he would become a PL player then, I would have said you were mad due to his lack of physicality at the time. I remember speaking to a scout who was there representing some PL clubs and there was no mention of young Furlong. It is always good to see one of our ex-player's score in the league above. That doesn't happen very often these days.
