Stoke on Trent council had a scheme where you could buy a house for £1, but they needed total refurbishment and you had to show you were good for the cost of that.
Yeah, I guess so. Last time I was in Liverpool I remember on the way into the city, seeing rows and rows of solid looking Victorian terraces boarded up and scheduled for demolition. Which would have been a tragedy imo, Victorian houses are mostly good for another 150 years if they’re looked after.

so did Liverpool but in both cases i think you had a time limit on the refurb but the idea is to be applauded as what we need is not more housing but bringing back unused houses with modern insulation electrics etc which will also help bring back life to rundown areas.
