A lot of talk about identity under LJ, I’m more worried about DH’s identity, or lack thereof!! We have been dire, and I mean really dire for the last 4 games. Clinton Morrison said on Sky Sports Saturday, it was the worst game he can remember watching. I think DH is a lucky man that there are no fans at the moment, as his ‘brand’ of football is awful so far!!
Last 7 games W4 D1 L2 / GF 7 GA 6/ Points for 13 - Points against 6 - Not bad but still disappointed at losing 2 games and you are correct we have got to be careful and not return to old habits.
LJ would have been crucified on here for that today..................................................................fact.
Pretty sure that’s an opinion not a fact. LJ ‘s gone, he isn’t coming back,he had his chance, he failed.
Of course it's not fact it's supposition. 1For, stay behind and write 500 lines. Supposition is not fact. Sunderland 0 Wigan 1 is a fact.
He has moved on, he doesn't love you anymore, you are no use to hin, you are just a memory, have a read ~ I was absolutely blown away by their plans and dreams for the club. I can see so much potential and I see it everywhere. I see it in the league and how we can step up, I see it in the facilities, I see it in the community and the passion the people of Sunderland have, and I also see it in the academy. The feeling I got from the ownership group [made this the right club for me]. Sorry fellas but Deano is our man..... Fact
It’s not the results Wiz, as they have largely been ok, it’s the absolutely dire style of play that’s the concern. I guarantee if fans were in the stadium there’s would be rumblings already. The last 4-5 performances have been worse than anything under LJ, regardless of results.
He is, and I will support him, as I did LJ. Pretty sure all manager say this type of thing - I don’t recall the last time a new manager said “ yeah, gutted to be appointed to this poorly run and supported club, this is just a stop gap to a better job” - what a stupid anti LJ comment Wiz!! Sadly, I hoped for better from you.....
Sorry Prof, I've heard so many weasel words about LJ coming my way that your last indictment is just another exageration and a nonsense, the man failed, set targets he couldn't keep and had the most fantastic, benevolent backing any previous manager ever had, I will continue to state what an excuse this sad little character turned out to be.
This was from Deano after another woeful performance yesterday! “We’ve had moments around the box just without the magic on the day. Waffle or not??
Every word from Dean Holden on Bristol City loss, Sam Bell, Jamie Paterson and Birmingham City Full post-match transcript after 0-1 loss to the Blues at Ashton Gate. What's your assessment of that, Dean? It’s a disappointing afternoon of course. It was a tight game, Birmingham made it difficult for us in the first half, they sat deep, sat behind the ball. We weren’t able to have opened them up as much as we’d have liked. We’ve conceded from a set-piece as we did against QPR on Tuesday, so we’ve got to improve in those areas. We’ve had a good chance in the first half with Callum, it just dropped off of his shoulder. We’ve had one cleared off the line just after half-time. If you get the first goal against a team like that then they’ve got to open up at some point. While it was 0-0 it was always going to be difficult to break them down, we just couldn’t do that, we just weren’t good enough to do that. It’s disappointing you go on and lose the set-piece and lose the three points. Bentley’s save had kept you in it, they had a good five-minute spell and then you conceded from a corner. The game got stretched, they hit the post, Bents made a good save from Sunjic, it’s really disappointing for us. It’s one of them at the moment, if you take the three relegated Premier League teams out of it I don’t think there is a great deal in it in the division, I really don’t. We got a great result against QPR on Tuesday, and we’ve got on the wrong side of the result today. That’s the Championship, we have to respond now and the boys have done that time and time and again this season, both during games and after defeats. Blackburn at home on Wednesday is a big game for us, we have to respond. You don’t have a lot of time at the training ground at the minute, is working on corners a priority? We work on them all the time, it’s part of our training ground programme. We break the game down into different parts and we work on them all the time. We’ve not got loads of time at the moment but it’s not something we’re ignoring, it’s just up to that moment. It was a good ball in fairness and the boy has just got a yard of space and attacked it. We have to keep striving to improve. At the other end, not a lot of saves for the Birmingham goalkeeper to make, you had plenty of the ball but no final product. As I say, they’ve got the two defensive midfielders in front of the back four and they sat low, sat deep. We have to open them up, and that’s the importance of the first goal. I remember a couple of times we were at the edge of the box and had broken free with a little one-two, and it was just the final touch or the final pass that is the difference. It just didn't happen for us at that side of the pitch. With Sam Bell making his debut today, I remember watching Mickey Bell play here plenty of times. It’s a day he will never forget. Of course, it’s a proud day for Sam and all of his family, Mickey used to play of course for the club and is coaching now in the academy. He’s been with the guys now, along with five other guys from the Under-23s that joined us on Thursday, and he just looked really sharp in training. He was hitting the back of the net nine times out of ten, and I was just thinking you never know with this game, do you. Unfortunately, he never got himself a chance, but he worked tirelessly when he came on, and as you say it’s a proud moment for him. No Jamie Paterson in the squad today, is he going to be out for a while? As I said on Thursday, we just have to see how he manages his pain. He’s got a programme now that he has to follow, in terms of the scan it was pretty positive, it’s just a case of how he manages the pain, he was feeling it in the Derby game. We’ll assess it day-by-day, whether he will be involved against Blackburn we will just have to see. City have found it tough to score at home lately, do you think teams are coming here with a new effective way of playing? I think that if you look at the last couple of home games we’ve had Derby, have had Watford. Birmingham today, in the position that they are in the league, haven’t had too many results recently, I think it’s fair to say that they came here and sat deep, behind the ball and tried to hit us on the counter-attack and they’d have been happy with that. We have to find ways to break them down, it doesn’t matter who you’re up against, you’ve got to find ways to win football no matter who you’re up against, we just weren’t able to find a way to win in that final third today. It was a game of few chances and they just found a way to win it with a set-piece. Just on Sam Bell, have his Under-23 displays earned him a place on that pitch today? We’re aware of all our youngsters in the academy, at different levels. We decided to call up with a few of the other guys on Thursday and he impressed us as well. As I say, late in the game we are short of options at the moment, and he is a proven goalscorer at youth level. You never know, if one had fallen to him I’d have fancied him to knock it into the net with the form he’s in. Finally, your predecessor Lee Johnson started at Sunderland today, what was your reaction to that? I’m delighted to see him back in the game, he’s obviously spent seven or eight years as a manager full-time and this is the first break that he’s had. I’m sure he will grasp the opportunity, it’s a huge football club, a fantastic opportunity for him to go there and put his mark on it, and really get them going. Anybody who can do that will be absolutely lauded by their supporters, so I wish him well. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/every-word-dean-holden-bristol-4770490
Well the point that this thread (not created by me) is about LJ, I know after some of the performances of late he would have been crucified for.....How he got it all wrong, why did he play this player or that, bad subs, does he know what he's doing? Does he know his best 11 yet etc, I can hear it now.....you know I'm right As to our performances so far, most have been pretty dire, (not exactly Barcelona is it?) but we have managed grind out some wins, given us a good points tally. And thank god for Bentley, who's been our saviour (MOM) on more than one occasion. As for Cliftonvilles Brother, Red Alert accusing me of going after Holden already is quite hypocritical for one that probably had the same "LJ out" banners made up as RR & RP... Just to emphasise, I think Dean is doing his best and I want him to do well for the City and out of all the managers we were linked to, DH was up there for me ahead of Houghton, who's hardly setting the world alight at Forest! But apart from the results, (which is what counts) I don't really see too much improvement of what we had before, including our home form. At the end of the day, we are only 4 points off the top spot as it seems the championship this season is really anybodies, more so than previous. So as long as we are within a shout and we improve from last season, then I can't ask more from Dean than that!
I like this, I am with you all of the way bruv, people have moved on, time has move forward and we now all stand together, if it's up's or downs, we can agree to disagree but all shout together in support of Bristol City FC.
Facts without facts are opinions which is a fakt or summat so which haters on here was that?? Until he started fannying around with the tombola machine I was impressed although I didn’t believe he could really feed the five thousand with a couple of trout!!
