Another high profile game on the 15th of October.Liverpool vs Manchester United.Which of these referees you think is going to be fair and cannot be intimidated by either Kenny Dalglish or Sir Alex Ferguson.? Referees Mike Dean Mike Riley Steve Tanner Lee Mason Andre Marriner Stuart Attwell Steve Bennett Martin Atkinson Howard Webb Michael Jones Chris Foy Phil Dowd Rob Styles Alan Wiley Keith Stroud Peter Walton Lee Probert Mark Halsey Mark Clattenburg There is no doubt one of the manager is not going to be pleased with the performance of official on that day.
I have never paid much attention to refs and think that it sometimes goes your way and sometimes doesn't.
Mark Halsey for me. In know he gets things wrong (don't they all) but he at least appears to be totally impartial
great article... i was thinking on this yesterday but didn;'t make a full list of refs. the ref assignments are only published on the friday before now. whereas i sued to be able to see on refworld.com I think its easier draw up a list of guys who should never get this game. lee mason (card happy, no common sense) Webb.. when you smile as you send off gerrard well that on its own whether or not the card was merited shows something... plus you can dive all ove rthe palce with this clown. Atkinson has proved his card happy ways all season clattenburg. he is so inconsistent. overall i think halsey or maybe riley.... I think actually any home town ref would be just perfect thanks.
Yeah very good article Never look at the ref b4 games, except against United, " wonder why" I think Dowd,Halsey would be good, Walton not too bad usually.Alan Wiley was one of the better ones too Defo not Webb, Bennett was a mare too, both United lovers. Atkinson ,Jones, Mason love there cards Refs tend to get knocked off the list cos of there age , just when they are gettin good
Premier League referees' cards table Referee M R Y Average Mike Dean 31 8 123 4.23 Mike Riley 23 4 90 4.09 Steve Tanner 11 3 41 4.00 Lee Mason 16 5 58 3.94 Andre Marriner 20 4 68 3.60 Stuart Attwell 5 2 16 3.60 Steve Bennett 22 0 79 3.59 Martin Atkinson 26 6 87 3.58 Howard Webb 35 6 118 3.54 Michael Jones 12 3 39 3.50 Chris Foy 25 3 82 3.40 Phil Dowd 29 6 92 3.38 Rob Styles 26 6 80 3.31 Alan Wiley 28 2 80 2.93 Keith Stroud 5 0 14 2.80 Peter Walton 27 3 67 2.59 Lee Probert 11 0 27 2.45 Mark Halsey 27 2 37 1.44 Mark Clattenburg 1 0 0 0.00 Most red cards is Mike Dean, and also must yellow,though he refereed more games than others,
Dowd would be another to consider As MITO rightly says - it's easier to list the ones who should NEVER be allowed near this game (unless standing with the mancs of course)
No wonder they reduced our allocation. It's all down to those ****ing refs standing all game !! Has to be Howard Webb
I can't see Halsey doing this game after the Newcastle - Wolves game this weekend just gone. Phil Dowd did a great job last time in this fixture, my vote would be for him.
Its easy. Martin Atkinson for three reasons. 1. Slur Alcoholic hates him. 2. He's refereed two of our matches this season and we've won. 3. He sent off opposition players in both games.
Let's be honest they are all pretty **** but the biggest homer of all is Phil Dowd and we are at home so ill take him.
I forgot about that. He reffed our 3-1 win in March too. Isn't it a coincidence that the two games we lost were refereed by Howard Webb, when there was dubious decisions in both. Berbatovs non penalty and Gerrard undeservedly been sent off in the cup game, and John OI Shea not being sent off in the league game at the theatre of debt.
Thats right Alan pick the one whos most likely to aid Liverpool as well lets be honest, you do need all the help you can get dont you Alan Slevin.
Gerrard didnt deserve to be sent off? Oki Doki Alan. Time for your meds I think. Theres a good boy Alan.
Gerrard didn't deserve to be sent off, he was sent off for the same reason Rodwell was at the weekend, his studs were showing. Rodwell however had his red rescinded. Gerrard hadn't. I wonder why that was?
Anyway, the ref is going to be **** anyway. It wont matter because right now all the refs in the UK are dogshit and incapable of doing their job correctly. Also no matter who the ref is if United win then Liverpool fans will blame him instead of their team as usual.
I don't think the ref is too important. As someone has already stated they all make mistakes. I look forward too but also hate when United go to Anfield as it seems a while since we have turned up and played well there. I personally think we will probably lose this game but hopefully if we turn up this time we can take something from the game
